    MacBook Air A1466

I have one MacBook Air (mid 2012) A1466 with i7 and it's working but after some time it turns off and then reboots and sometime I'm able to log on to macos and then it just turns off and after few seconds it tries to turn on.

I've checked the board and there was almost no thermal paste on CPU so I've put their fresh one. I've also checked the board and there is no visible corrosion / water damage (but I can be that it was cleaned before)

when I let it off for some longer time I'm able to turn it on and work on it normally but then this happened again.
I don't understand what's happening. I've installed fresh macOS and updated it.

Sometimes this can be a bad ISL, crap under the SMC, CPU needs a reball, or more often its a corroded pad under a 0201 component somewhere on the board.

If its been through an ultrasonic, tell tale signs should still be there by looking for dull end caps on passive components. Any that are dull or black, are suspect. You can hit them with hot air and flux, nudge them and see if the spring back onto the pad. If not, you take of the resistor/cap, and see the condition of the pad itself. Often they are eaten away and need jumpering etc.

Could just be a bad power button acting up.

I've tried new battery and run geekbench test for CPU it finished OK but when i run it for GPU it was running and then it turns off (but GPU i've started right after CPU was finished so maybe it's connected)

i've let it for while and checked later and i was again able to login to OS and work but after some time it again turns off (i've checked battery health and it's good (99%) according to Stats app.

I don't think it's power button as it's working correctly when i try to turn it on or off.

Doesn't really matter, it's quick enough to just test it by disconnecting keyboard after turning on. Then you know for sure.

Seen it before, power button works but has a mind of it's own aswell and makes the laptop turn off at random times.

so turn on and disconnect and operate with external keyboard ? will it not hurt anything disconnecting keyboard while battery is connected ?

              Yes. No issues disconnecting.

Macbook AIr a1466 Trackpad jittery/nonresponsive in macos, but not in recovery mode.
                by redbaron1007
I've got a MacBook Air A1466 that had liquid damage that I got working entirely except for the trackpad. The track pad is jittery or outright unresponsive when it is in macos, but works perfectly fine in recovery mode. The keyboard works and there are no issues with any of the keys not pressing. I have also replaced the track pad with 2 known good track pads and still am having issues with it.

I can't find anything wrong on the board with any of the IC's that would be in circuit with the track pad and am assuming it's some sort of os issue, but I don't know how macOS actually works...

Macbook Air A1466 820-3437-B Booting Problem
                by psdavid65
I received a 2013 Macbook Air A1466 820-3437-B motherboard with serial number C02L6GQ9FSV8 that came in WITHOUT a bios chip. I got a new bios chip and reprogrammed it. Macbook now powers on but doesn't boot the SSD. I've flashed a ton of bios but still same problem. Windows installation works with this Macbook but never a mac installation. Unfortunately, since I didn't receive this macbook with a bios chip, I don't have the original bios. What can I do now?...
