    Macbook A1708 battery not detected

    Hi guys, i have weird problem with A1708, laptop does not detect battery, currently I'm using tested new battery, laptop works on it but does not show any details such as percentage, cycle counts etc. and works on it only for like 1-2 minutes with battery cross icon.

    I've tried new battery flex, no change.

    PPBUS_G3H 10.9v on battery
    D6950 - tested fine (replaced also just in case, no change)
    R5381 - 3.3V (2kOhm)
    R5380 - 3.3V (2kOhm)

    R6950 - 10kOhm - 0.08v or 0 (Checked path and fine with connector)
    On battery data connector 3.4v on pin 2&3

    Any ideas what can be done/checked?

      To confirm, the battery is known good and is charged yet the logic board is unable to remain on with this battery?

      Remove all power / no battery and confirm the resistance on each side of C7020. We are wanting to confirm the current sense loop resistor circuit to be sure it matches the schematic values.

      Confirm the resistance from the battery connector contacts to the SMBUS master @ U5000. Ideally, a scope or SMBUS / I2C analyzer is required to monitor the bus traffic between the slave / master devices. This will confirm if the battery is responding to the transactions. Assuming the battery is compatible for this logic board, then the SMBUS connections must be reviewed. The default parked state of logic '1' is good but does not confirm if the bus master is able to communicate with each device. That is, perhaps a broken connection before reaching the battery.

          Pin 1 keep changing from 5-25khm with drop

          I don't have a scope to test smbus

              Hi guys i have a 820-00840 that works fine and boots up as long a battery is not connected. I initially thought it was a bad battery so i went ahead and bought a new battery for it and slapped it in yesterday and realize that the same fault exists. When i screw in the battery and connect the little battery strip and i press the power button it will not power on.At that time If i connect the charger i get fan spin for 10 seconds then stops but the machine won't power on.If i disconnect the little battery strip and re-plug the charger the machine boots as normal.It's not the battery connector strip...

              Hello, I have a customer that brought this laptop in after replacing his battery. He said his original battery charge was not lasting long, and after replacing the battery with one purchased from iFixit, the charging worked for about 30 minutes and then stopped, and the battery is no longer detected by windows.

              Hi, I was given this laptop by my uncle who said:
              • It would occasionally shutdown if not plugged in
              • battery had been replaced
              • touchbar would "strobe"
              I disconnected touch bar components and strobing and sudden shutdowns were fixed. Recent updates were installed to the OS.

              After fully charging the battery, with bluetooth disabled, no LAN cable and only wifi enabled, the laptop stayed on (screen on) for about 6-8 hours. Allowing screen to turn off while not in use, and it went for over a day.
