Macbook Pro A1990 820-01041 server not connecting

    Hi

I received this Macbook Pro A1990 about a week ago with a question mark folder blinking on the screen.
I tried to restore the OS using CMR+R but when selecting install fresh operating system (the option was for High Sierra) I am getting every time "unable to connect to server".
I also tried to restore from DFU. The message from there was a bit different. Something like "unable to revert partition to a bootable one".
To be honest I am out of ideas here.
Do I have an actual hardware issue?
When I am deleting and formating the internal SSD through Disk Utility it all goes well.
Did anybody had similar issues and found a solution to it?

Suggest to use a wired connection with a driverless Ethernet dongle (ie. Asix Ethernet controller). Then test again. The default os driver packages support Asix by default.
