I've got a 15" ENVY laptop here, model 15m-dr0011dx. The customer complained that the power adapter was getting really hot and that it seemed like the battery would deplete quickly - like it would go from 35% to nothing, very fast. I tested this battery (SA04XL) on my NLBA Battery Analyzer and it passed all the test except charging cycles which were at 172 - and that doesn't seem high to me. I was thinking maybe this battery had high internal resistance, but all cells were reported at 108ohm, balanced across the board.
I connected my power supply to it(lid closed) with 19.5v 4a setting, and initially it was drawing 400ma. after a few seconds, it jumped up to 2 amps. That seems awfully high to me. I thought charging current was generally under 1 amp.
Any guidance from the laptop gods here?
**ADDITIONAL INFO UPDATE** It goes from 456ma to 2.1a exactly 10 seconds after power is connected. I also replaced the battery and found the same numbers.
