    MacBook Pro A1990 No Audio ( Speakers and Microphone)

    Hello ,

    I have a MacBook Pro A1990 , year 2018 board number : 820-01041A.
    The speakers and the microphone of the Mac are not working for some reason.
    I do have sound through a Bluetooth device or when I connect a headphone plus microphone to the jack 3.5mm input.


    Can anyone give me some direction on how to debug it on board?

      Meter in DC volts mode, 5 volts or higher scale is ok.

      Measure the voltage to ground of:

      I2C_CODEC_SCL
      I2C_CODEC_SDA


      Check the power rails for the audio codec as per attachment.

      Post the measurements.

          UR730 got damaged and short-circuited the motherboard.           The Problem: This player has a toggle switch to select between Stereo, Mono R, and Mono L. Regardless of the setting it outputs the sound to both the L&R audio jacks. In the Mono R position, the audio output level is normal (from both the L and R audio output jacks), in the Stereo position the audio output is about half the volume, and in Mono L, it's about 3/4 the volume. Something about putting it into Stereo mode is causing the volume to drop significantly and I can't figure it out.

          Hi, I found short on one of 6 black nand (total 1TB).
          i removed all 6 nand ( voltages all ok) and now i want to program with JC P15 but for A1990 2019 there is only 512GB configuration.
          I try A2141 1TB configurazion with TSB4228 but the position on pcb is different ( U9300 and U9400 is no stuff on A1990 but present on A2141 and U8800 and U8900 is no stuff on A2141 but present on A1990 )
          macbook with A2141 configuration run on recovery but don't complete it.​
          anyone can help me?

          Hello,

          I'm working on a MacBook Air A2337 that had liquid damage on the right I/O board. I ultrasonic cleaned the board and it all functions except the computer has no audio. I tried reballing the audio IC which is TAS5770AC0, but that did not restore audio. I could just replace the entire board, but I wanted to see if replacing the audio IC would fix it first. Mouser has a similar audio IC in stock which is TAS5770LC0YFFR, but I wasn't sure if it is compatible. I was just wondering if anyone knew if I could use the one from mouser as an acceptable replacement or if I need to purchase...

          my MacBook Pro 15" 2018 Touch Bar (A1990) doesn't charge anymore. Board# 820-01041-A

          I'm not experienced in diagnostics, but I want to try to solve the problem with your help, because every local shop charges around 600€ (650 usd). Which is the value of the whole Macbook.

          The Macbook was charging when suddenly the "charging sound" appeared every other second for around 4-5 times.
