Re: MacBook A1466 820-165-A No power Missing PM_SLP_S4_L

    So, I reworked processor.
    But I am not lucky.
When I was removing the processor, I heard a few pops under it.
As I understand, the remains of the juice exploded under the processor.
But when I returned the processor to its place, I saw the absence of several 3.3 Volt connections on the back of the board.
Apparently, this was the destruction of the layers inside the board.
If I am pressing on this place, the connections are restoring.
    I haven't seen this yet.
I did not violate the thermal mode for removing the processor. For me, this effect is a mystery.
I removed another processor from the same board using the same thermal profile - everything was perfect.
It appears that this board is no longer recoverable.

I have a question: can I install this processor from this motherboard (820-00165-A) to later version (820-3437-B).
I assume that the processor is good conditions and I have a motherboard with a dead processor.
    Thank you.

Watch some of DosDude's Youtube videos on MAC CPU transplants. He says that the Intel U processors warp when removed, and he uses larger balls to compensate (0.45mm).

The 820-3437 is the older board used in 2013~2014 Macbook Air's, and the processor is one generation back. 820-00165 was used in 2015~2017 Airs. The 165 boards are more attractive for resale as they run Monterey natively. 3437 will only run Big Sur.

        Thank you for answers.
Of course I have access to boardview and schematic.

So I guess I finished my investigations:
This photo shows that DDR was replaced (yellow field)
I suppose that "a professional repair technician" violated the thermal regime, and the area marked in red was inflated. A bubble formed there. This area has vertical movement, that I didn't notice before.
I had been trying to restore connection with the wire, but it is unless.

I used 0.4 balls, I hope it's enough to compensate bending.

Yes I agree with you, This processor would be better use on the same models (not lower).

Thank you to everyone who replied. The information was very helpful.

I suggest this topic may be closed.

Macbook Air A1466 EMC 3178 missing power and liquid damaged
          by BMCappelletti
          Hi everyone.
Macbook Air A1466 EMC 3178 (board 820-00165 A) not turning on and no charging light. Completely dead. With no battery connected it would power up and I could hear the chime, but nothing on the screen and then a sudden turn off. Sometimes during the chime. Opened it up and found some liquid damage. The flat that connects both boards has damage in one side (with a missing pin already). The connectors on the boards are fine, though.
Also, there was liquid damage on the included picture area, which are R8111 and C8111. A quick and soft brush on it made the resistor be gone....

          Macbook A1466 820-00165 PPBUS Missing
          by Instafixx
Hello, I have a Macbook A1466 80-00165 which is not turning on. It is taking 0 ohms and the PPBUS_G3H is at 0v at F7140.

Tried Injecting 1V but nothing gets hot.
Removed the F7140 fuse and the Pin#2 is still short to ground.

Can anyone suggest where the issue is ?

Macbook Air A1466 820-3437-B Booting Problem
          by psdavid65
I received a 2013 Macbook Air A1466 820-3437-B motherboard with serial number C02L6GQ9FSV8 that came in WITHOUT a bios chip. I got a new bios chip and reprogrammed it. Macbook now powers on but doesn't boot the SSD. I've flashed a ton of bios but still same problem. Windows installation works with this Macbook but never a mac installation. Unfortunately, since I didn't receive this macbook with a bios chip, I don't have the original bios. What can I do now?...

Macbook A1466 dies when charger disconnected
          by echothegamer
          Hello all,

Working on my wife's 13' Macbook air. It's been in a box since she upgraded but I figured it could be good practice.

          Details:
          Macbook 13' A1466
          Board (820-3209-A)
          Battery OEM 7.3v 50Wh 6700 mAh (020-7379-A)

Pictures below of Boardview and schematic...

I don't know how to test the voltage on a MacBook battery. I just assumed it had an enable pin but the best I could read was 300 something mV poking around the battery connector.

It's an older model and it is very likely that battery has become...
