Fisher Scientific T-30 Metal Detector - Circuit schematic

Looking for service manual for this old thing or a very similar detector it is from 1965 with germanium transistors .. I didn't think there was any real use for it until someone asked

Looks like someone soldered two "modern" resistors in there at some point. I wonder why that was.

Unfortunately, I don't have much knowledge in the way of metal detector theory, but if bad comes to worse and you can't find a service manual on any of the popular websites online (Elektrotanya, eserviceinfo, and etc.), then perhaps you can try to draw a diagram of the circuit. The PCB doesn't seem too complicated or with too many components, so should be do-able.

I found a circuit that looks similar to the one here and shows the basic function blocks of these old detectors .. I may look around and see if I can find a schematic from another detector circa 1960-1970

          https://www.nutsvolts.com/magazine/a...metal_detector

.. i scoped out those transistors and resistors .. the old carbon resistors drifted .. that is why the knew ones were piggybacked

These old metal detectors (along with even new ones) are still working the same way, they should be implementing an oscillator which changes frequencies when you pass over metal objects. Yeah I suspect the resistors indeed drifted but shocked they weren't simply replaced instead of parallelized...

What's the problem with it currently other than the apparent cut wire? Any function at all?

It is running and oscillating and I can hear a very quiet low hum putting on some regular headphones .. it was probably meant for some piezo headphones with high impedance since the output is so quiet

.. I will try to check each oscillator and look at the signal closer with a scope tomorrow and maybe trace out the circuit a little now that I have a rough detector circuit to draw from and look for some parallels

.. I reconnected the cut wire to the variable plate capacitor to the control knob but it does not change much to the sound

1970 Metal Lathe Control Circuit blowing fuses on the 120 volt section failing meager test below 60 mega ohms
                by sam_sam_sam
I was working on this machine yesterday and I now going to use an incandescent lights instead of a fuses to figure out what the issue is with it blowing control voltage rail but this not the only issue the coolant pump failed the meager test as well as the main motor as well this motor has 12 motor wire leads instead of the normal 9 wires

This metal lathe has a weird motor setup it has a soft start motor with a “Y” and a delta type of motor winding setup and it is not done in the motor pucker head enclosure it is with four different contactors wired in a configuration I have not...

                op amp circuit function?

                Hi,
I am repairing a ups which doesn't turn on ,it has the following ICs:
SG3525 used to drive inverter mosfets.
couple of uc3483, one for the power supply and another to drive a big mosfet at the output stage(i think the technique is called boost)
A LM358 and TL074 for control mechanism and of course the uController.

The SG3525 is shutting down every time the ups is turned on.
I want your help to know the function of LM358 and TL074 in the system.
I reverse engineered the LM358 circuit and i think that one of the block(A) is used for battery level...

Fixing the Charge Circuit of the Batteries of the DC Motor
                by Astonished
                Hi friends of electronics

What you see in the video and pictures attached is the circuit for charging the batteries of a DC motor.

The problem is that this circuit cannot charge the batteries (3 1800mAH NiMH batteries) any more. When the circuit was OK, its green LEDs lit up one at a time to show that the batteries have charged more. But now that the circuit is flawed, LEDs light up as you see in the video and at the same time successive beeps are heard.

Please help me fix this circuit.

Lenovo L490 Ram voltage circuit malfunction

                Hello friends,

Looking for some guidance here. The RAM voltage circuit on this motherboard keeps burning out PU301 which is a RT8231AGQW. Copy of the board with the burnt chip attached with some voltage measurements and copy of the schematics also included.

I think I've checked almost every component in the circuit, but when I change the RT8231, the laptop starts I have 1.2V on the inductor for about 10 seconds and then the RT8231 goes south and no more voltage on the inductor. All other voltages on the laptop are good, this is the only one conking out for a reason I...
