    Xbox Series X

    Good morning guys,
I am resuming an old service on an Xbox X Series that I really want to repair. I summarise what has been done because I can't find my previous post.

The Xbox initially did not turn on, no LED, no beep. Found short circuit on the 12V connector on the bottom board. Injecting 1.5V on the positive side of one of the shorted capacitors to find with the thermal camera which capacitor was shorted, no gave me useful information. The board draws 2.80A (1.5V), but from the thermal camera images I don't see any component getting hot.
I removed the coils one by one until the short circuit on 12V seems to have disappeared (have 70ohm resistance to Ground in the connector pin). The coil I removed when the short circuit disappeared is the one highlighted in the figure.
I removed mosfet (IC) M86965 corresponding to the coil I had removed and with which I was no longer registering a short between 12V and ground but resistance to ground was only 70ohm. After removing the mosfet (not without difficulty 450 degrees air gun and pre heater at 200 from the bottom) the resistance between the 12V connector pins and ground increased to over 20kohm. Then I ordered a mosfet, soldered it, and verified that there was no more short circuit on 12V. I then reassembled everything.

The XBOX now turns on (beep, led, and fan) but unfortunately I can't see anything on the screen. Do you think I have forgotten something?

I have tried also safe mode and low res… no output

No synchronization with the controller, I tried with sync keys and connecting via USB, but it does not sync, the led on the controller blinks endlessly. Could it be a problem with the MP86965 mosfet I replaced?

    HDMI pin seems ok.

There isn't a way to obtain an error code from XBOX Series X?

if you had a bad mosfet i would scope the gate pin now to see if it backfed and damaged the driver.

Short circuit on XBOX controller - Model 1914.
      by MarkC1970
We have a XBOX 1914 controller that has shorted the 3V3 to J2 (aerial connector). If you unplug the aerial, the controller boots and connects. It seems stable without the aerial plugged in but it is not ideal.

      The schematic is on https://www.acidmods.com/RDC/XB1/Sch...OME_VALUES.pdf

I have little to no understanding of these RF transmitters and so I am unsure what has failed. Currently, T2 is short on Pins 1 to 2 and RFF2 is also short on Pins 1 to 2. This is how the 3V3 is getting connected to J2, clearly one or both of these components are faulty....

Help me find the short circuit on this WORKING Nvidia GTX1650
      by aaronkatrini
      Hi all,

Recently picked up this GTX1650 at a local flea market for a low price and wanted to use it on my secondary PC. I first tested the card and saw the fan spin for a split second and then nothing. Immediately I thought of a short circuit. Disassembled and found a shorted SMD capacitor, injected voltage into it (1V/4A) and two Mosfets got hot immediately (QN3103 & QN3107). Desoldered these Mosfets and the card turned back to life.

Bought replacements from Aliexpress and replaced them afterwards. Tried the card but still the saw the fan spin for a split second...

HP OMEN 15-ce012nh give error code 5long 3 short after CPU LOW SIDE MOSFET BURN
      by questore
      Hello everyone.
Someone brought this poor hp in.

All power rails had normal resistances so i turned it on. Instant power cutoff...
First mosfet was shorted so replaced it...
After that I have tryed to start since no short was on the main power rail. the CPU middle dual mosfet heated up and protection shut down the laptop.
After investigating i have found that when the mosftet turning on then the mostfet got instantly hot (not the CPU)
Removed the faulty mosfet. -> now laptop turns on CPU mildly gets hot but laptop gives the common 5 long 3 short LED...

Nintendo Switch lite charging chip heats up and does not short circuit
      by fab13
      Hello everyone

Small technical problem on a Nintendo Switch lite
Here's what I noticed: the USB port has been damaged internally, with a short circuit on the power supply line to the small fuse.

After replacing the USB connector, the short circuit went away and I can't see any other short circuit in the whole motherboard.

When I charge the console, it seems to be charging: I get 15 volts and an amperage of 0.450 A.

Then, after a while, the amperage increases to 1.1 A and the BQ24193 charging chip starts to heat up, as evidenced...

iMac power supply short-circuit diode to ground
      by pcardoso73
      Hi,
I have an iMac with the power supply reference: ADP-200DFB.

This power supply is not working and when trying to debug the problem with a multimeter, I found what I thought to be a short circuited diode (the short-circuit is to ground).

With the continuity test it beeps both ways, so doesn't block current flow at all then reverse biased. But after removing the diode the beep continues and the diode seems healthy. It seems to exist a real short-circuit.

As I have another ADP-200DFB power supply (faulty one as well), I have checked the same...
