If the BQ was what was getting hot, why did you not try replacing that? Or is that what you meant in your post when you said you swapped out the "BC"?Leave a comment:

Voltages all look good and no shorts around this area. This is very odd. Maybe my M92 replacement was bad. It just doesn't make any sense.
It would be nice to no the complete circuit for charging to help isolate the issue.Leave a comment:

what about the 3.3 volt regulator located above the audio IC, any shorts on this rail as its fed from the BQ chip and supply's power to the m92/P13 and wifi/bluetooth module ?Leave a comment:

Nintendo Switch-No Shorts and not charging
This is a strange one for me. I have a Nintendo switch that turned on initially. The BQ chip was getting very hot. I unplugged and tried a different battery in case there was a problem with them one that came with it. I was told that the battery had been swapped.
After trying a new battery, the unit would not turn on.
Ammeter shows 15v 0 amp draw.
Tested around BG, P13 and M92. No shorts. Decided to swap out BG. Same result.
Checked voltages around BG, M92 and Max 177050.
Also checked Max 177621.
Getting desperate, I changed M92. Nothing
I changed both Max chips, nothing
Unit is not in RCM mode.
I also took a working board and started checking values all over the board in diode mode and could not see any discrepancies.
I am at a loss with this one. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Tags: None

by flat-eartherThe charging indicator light on my ASUS X54H laptop is always on even when the charger is disconnected.
Windows also shows ''Plugged in'' when charger is not connected.
This problem started year ago gradually, when unplugging the charger the charging light took several seconds to disappear, then minutes, and now almost always on even when unplugged for an entire day.
Strangely, before sometimes immediately when plugging in the charger the charging light went away, and later came back with it connected.

by ScoffLooking for some help with this one if anybody can assist please? I have an HP Probook 470 G4 Laptop which recently started to intermittently failing to turn on, with intermittent white LED light(charging LED) by the charging port when it should have been charging and showing an orange LED instead. Definitely some sort of gradual failure. Now the laptop fails to power on at all, no charging LED, no Power Button LED either - seemingly dead.
Stripped down to the bare motherboard. The original HP battery, when disconnected from the motherboard, is reading 0.00v - possibly some sort of protection... -
by fab13Hello everyone
Small technical problem on a Nintendo Switch lite
Here's what I noticed: the USB port has been damaged internally, with a short circuit on the power supply line to the small fuse.
After replacing the USB connector, the short circuit went away and I can't see any other short circuit in the whole motherboard.
When I charge the console, it seems to be charging: I get 15 volts and an amperage of 0.450 A.
Then, after a while, the amperage increases to 1.1 A and the BQ24193 charging chip starts to heat up, as evidenced... - Loading...
