    I have a ps5 with a single beep, hooking it up to a lab bench power supply gives this, any ideas on the problem?

      Hi.

      I have a laptop Dell Vostro 3501 which did not POST. When connected to power supply and turn it on, the keyboard backlight would turn on but nothing else. Sometimes there was 1 BEEP code indicating problems with BIOS.

      Then I disassembled it to read the BIOS chips. It had 2 - 64mbit and 128mbit. I connected CH341A (with 3.3v mod) to both of the chips (still soldered on main board) and read them.

      After I reassembled laptop back and tried to turn it on. Now there is no sign of life. Not even keyboard backlight.

      Then I took the motherboard out...

      Hi, everyone. First post of an actual repair. I'm a technician but a complete newbie with laptops.

      So I got this Dell Inspiron to play with.

      No charger, so I connected to my bench PSU.

      The laptop also didn't include: hard disk (I added one of my own for testing, see below) and wireless PCB (but I doubt this could have anything to do with this particular failure).


      ------What it did (and didn't do)------

      1) I turned it on and it powered on. Powered down in 2 seconds by itself.

      2) Removed RAM, changed slot. Same...

      Bought myself a project. Waterdamage to the left wing. Front side got damage on top up to SSD area. Back - near CD3218 both CD3217. Had to replace a lot of caps and resistors to make it perfect. No shorts. Didnt lift any chips yet but microscope shows good balls from sides. Anyway. It powers up and boots fine.
      Right single usbc shows 20v on meter 0 amp
      Left upper usbc shows 5v 0 amp
      Left bottom usbc shows 20v 0 amp
      magsafe shows orange but also does not charge
      nothing produces beep from mac when on
      when off - single usbc and magsafe produce beep but no beep...

      Hi all, I just need to know that, can i use SMPS type power supply to test and short circuit detection on a laptop motherboard?
      I saw 95% of repair guys are using only Linear bench power supply. linear bench power supply is pricy, thats why i planned to get one SMPS supply.

      i know that in linear power supply the noise will be very low comparing to SMPS supply....

      How do you bench test a series X? I was planning to find a defective PSU to use its connector, but before I go about doing this, I was wondering if there's any bench PSU to the series X connector adapter available
