GEO 33920-56B30 ECU with leaking Rubycons

    What the fuck. Really?
I was inside my ECU fixing a possibly blown data line when I noticed burn marks around the two 50v Rubycon capacitors. Popping some glue off also took with it the capacitors and...

Trace damage. Both caps had leaked not once, but twice. They had totally fucked up the surrounding traces and left a high resistance short which in one place had burned a hole cleanly through the board and along another trace to ground. There are indications however this was repaired in 2000 but they replaced the caps with the same ones and twelve years later, it happened again.

    Check the Vending machines!!

High temperatures tend to do that to caps. Even good brands are not immune.
