Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 full BIOS .bin request please

    Howdy,
The short, I have an Asrock Z77 Extreme 4 motherboard I picked up on the ebay to see if I could fix. I have some i7-3770 CPU's (all are good) and popped some DDR3 1333 memory in and get the dreaded F4 code along with the 55 code. Upon powering up, just keeps attempting to start, fan runs then restarts in a seemingly never ending loop. Cleared the CMOS multiple times, no effect. So, would like to try my new Christmas present to myself, a XGecu T48 (TL866-3G) Programmer to reprogram the IC. I assume this is a fairly popular board and hopefully someone will post the full .bin file.

The long, I started repairing electronics as a hobby around 10 years ago and this site is one of the first that I cam to to read about failing capacitors, thank you to the host. Anyway, have repaired a lot of radios, hifi gear, test gear, etc and now have evolved to motherboard troubleshooting/repair. Have watched a bunch of vids from "Learn Electronics Repair" channel and learned a ton. He has done quite a few repairs via BIOS IC reprogramming so I am attempting to stick my toe in that repair realm.

Evidently, one cannot just download a complete BIOS .bin file from the manufacturer, that would be too easy. So, I am humbly requesting a copy of said file so I can have a project for Christmas. I ordered a few IC's (W25Q64FVAIQ) from the interweb is case mine is bonkers and a XGecu T48 Programmer from the Amazon.

Thanks and look forward to the input!

    You can.

    55 is RAM-related error btw.

      Code -55
"The Memory could not be detected. Please re-install the memory and CPU. If the problem still exists, please install only one memory module or try using other memory modules."

Hi, where can one download the BIOS?

I know the 55 error is ram related, I pulled ram out of working pc, have 4 sticks, all give 55 error. In the dozens of threads I read about this similar issue, the 55 error resolved after BIOS was corrected. Will try some other DDR3 ram tomorrow hopefully that I have from other working computers.
        Thanks!

This error can also be due to the processor itself, since the memory controller is located in the processor itself or bent legs on the processor socket.

Indeed, good to know. I inspected the CPU socket, no bent pins fortunately. Thanks for the post.

                  Thanks, two questions.

Is this a complete BIOS or an update? In the go by thread on this site, there is no mention of Asrock systems.

Second, I read about the renaming file thing, I assume one needs certain software to open and reformat it to a .bin file?

                  Pardon the ignorance...

                    That's complete bios file.
Just rename on windows but you need a programmer to wite that file into your bios chip.

Fiddeled with the T48 programmer this evening. Read the chip and saved a copy of the file. Right clicked on the flash file from the website, added the .BIN and used exam diff to compare both files and they are not identical. So, gotta figger out how to program the old ic with the new data and hopefully she fires up!

I don't know if your backup was successful or not or just a junk file but just different versions, they have a lot of differences even though they are all virgin bios.

There was a sticker on my chip with a v 2.9 label so likely it is the version I am attempting to install. Hopefully will post results soon!

Hi. I am not too up on installing BIOS so am looking for a little direction installing a BIOS update.
                                  https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/AB350%...index.asp#BIOS

                                  I have an ASROCK AB350 Pro4 that is running a P3.00 BIOS.
CPU is AMD Ryzen5 1500X which I believe is a "Summit Ridge."
Before I go ahead and update it to the latest version, I thought I would ask whether my plan is right to try and be sure I don't make a mess of things.
It appears that the latest BIOS for this chip is the 5.80; therefore I need to install (one at a time)…

I have successfully attached to the flash chip (W25Q128JVSQ) on the motherboard with a CH341A programmer and made several modifications using Intel FIT (e.g., allow software SPI write) without bricking. I was also able to boot to a modified GRUB shell where I attempted to edit many BIOS security related options like BIOS Guard/Lock, Flash Signature Override, ME FW Image Re-Flash, etc.

Unfortunately, some of these modifications like to Intel BIOS Guard failed because it is fused into the PCH. Also,...

                                  Hello,

I have a Lenovo Thinkbook 15 G2 ITL i5 Laptop (serial number: MP2BFZEF) that when I turn it on, the led on the power button lights up for 5 seconds, then goes out. There's no display and nothing happens.
So I thought it was a Bios problem.
I found 3 bios chips on the board, which I read with a bios programmer: two XMC model bios chips and a Winbond model bios chip. Each XMC model bios chip has two partitions named XM25QH128A [3.3V] and XT25F128A [3.3V]. And the Winbond model bios chip has three partitions named W25Q80BL 3.3V, W25Q80xV 3.3V and W25Q80DV 3.3V....
