      Hey, can you tell me how you succeeded with this to read the chip and then to dump it?
      Do you mind to show me photos of your programmer, cables, how you read it, the software and where you downloaded it from, literally everything?

      I am struggling to read it with two different programmers and cables orders (I was like sure that I have matched the cables cuz mine is with 16 pins... pff) and no luck.

      i will really appreciate it, thanks!

        Hello,

        I am have a similar problem. I have HP ProDesk 400 G6 DM.

        Serial Number: MXL2083TCW
        Product Number: 9AG51AV

        The BIOS is locked and I would like to update it. I've bought a CH431A programmer, a 16pin clip and IC clamps. Using Netprogrammer and AS programmer, I cannot get the chip to read out. I've tried a number of things but including using the IC clamps rather than the clip. I have a number of questions, if anybody has a few moments I could use the help and would greatly appreciate any advice.

        * Should the PC be plugged in when I am reading the BIOS?
        * Netprogrammer doesn't detect the IC and when selecting the chip there is number of variants for W25Q256, mine is W25Q256JVFQ. Is there a significant difference between the sub types? Do I need additional files in the programmer to read out and write back the data?
        * I've looked the data sheet and found a post that matches the pins from 16 to 8. Is the mapping correct?

        BIOS Chip Pin 2 (VCC) -> CH341a Programmer Pin 8 (VCC)
        BIOS Chip Pin 10 (VSS) -> CH341a Programmer Pin 4 (VSS)
        BIOS Chip Pin 7 (CS#) -> CH341a Programmer Pin 1 (CS)
        BIOS Chip Pin 8 (SO / IO1) -> CH341a Programmer Pin 2 (MISO)
        BIOS Chip Pin 15 (SI / IO0) -> CH341a Programmer Pin 5 (MOSI)
        BIOS Chip Pin 16 (SCLK) -> CH341a Programmer Pin 6 (SCK)
        BIOS Chip Pin 9 (IO2) -> CH341a Programmer Pin 3 (WP)
        BIOS Chip Pin 1 (IO3) -> CH341a Programmer Pin 7 (HOLD)

        * I don't have another computer with a compatible BIOS chip (thinking about buying a chip to debug the programmer). Is there anything I am missing to debug the CH431A?

        Thank you in advance for any assistance.

          No , all power sources must be isolated from the motherboard.

          Since I don't use CH341A, I'm not sure but CH341A is the cheapest but not the best.

                Thank you for the response! I really appreciate it! Sadly, I've tried flashing that bin to the computer and it refused to boot. Afterwards, I flashed back the old bin and it started up with the password as before. In addition, I've also tried following some tutorials and downloaded a clean CSME 14.1, placed it into the region and regenerated the image. The resulting image also didn't remove the BIOS password. If at all possible, could you take another look?

                      Thank you for generating another BIOS. I flashed the BIOS with it and just like the previous one, the computer doesn't POST with that bin.

                        Flash again with the original file (lock file) to see if it can be posted ? If it can't be posted, you have accidentally damaged the hardware

                          Thank you so much for continuing to assist me.

                          Tl;dr: The very first bin file you sent worked!

                          I flashed back to the original saved bin and it didn't work until I realized the write wasn't working. I erased the IC and was able to flash to original bin onto it and it worked. After doing that I erased the IC again and put the very first bin you sent in response and it worked like a charm. Apologies for not investigating this more before asking for help.

                            I am using RC unlocker but the power only comes on for a few seconds and the pc does not respond. Can anyone point out where I can find the right program to delete my forum password?

                                  Hello danito I did as you wrote, reset the settings to factory defaults, but after uploading the original bios the password is still there.

                                    I reset the bios to factory settings, but after reinserting the original bios, the password returns. I do this without the cmos battery, but I should insert it before reinserting the original bios?

                                        I have reset security then reset the bios to factory settings, saved and confirmed by typing in the numbers that I am resetting the bios but after soldering the original bios there is the password again. what am I doing wrong?
