I was trying to recover the data from a 4tb drive that was bought last september and it stopped working after a couple months. I bought a drive of the same model with the intention of using the pcb but after swapping the firmware, it still isn't recoverable or even usable. both pcb boards will work with the new drive as long as the firmware from the new drive is used. In disk management, the size of the drive doesn't show at all. is this corrupt firmware or worse?

Re: how to recover data from a western digital passport
Usually it's physical damage internally to the drive. If the data is important, I recommend you send this to someone who has the correct tools and experience to handle it. The jigs, clean room and software alone get into many thousands of dollars. You are either doing this full time or you aren't.
Check out this software...it's like 10K.

by lamoHello. Customer tried to update BIOS via Lenovo software. Update has been failed and unit was dead completely. I found working BIOS dump and flashed it. Now unit turns on very slowly, and, after every booting it tries to recover ME firmware and fails everytime. Also, unit can't detect nvme disk, so i can't boot windows to flash ME with Lenovo software. Can someone provide to me 100% working dump? There're 2 flash IC's: U49 and U801. I flashed only U49. Thanks in advance.

by ivanhHi All,
Does anybody have / or is able to provide a dump of the U2 chip (SOP8) in the WD MyBook for MAC 3TB enclosure? Its the chip on the SATA to USB internal interface card.
Background - I have an enclosure which was not functioning correctly. It was only providing 2TB of space as opposed the original 3TB, no matter how i formatted it. Disabling chip U2 (cutting pin8) restored capacity to 3TB however with the loss of the useful WD drive functions.
Hence the desire to fix the enclosure by replacing the faulty U2 (25LD020 OP8) with a new one, programmed with...12-28-2020, 05:13 PM -
by gurj1979Hi guys.
I've got a Ubiquiti US-8-150W POE switch which has issues with updating the firmware.
Turned out to be a bad EEPROM chip. It would read the firmware and work as normal, but failed to write new firmware to it.
So I took off the chip and read on EEPROM and saved it. Wrote to old chip and failed to write
Got New chip and writes good.
THE PROBLEM...
It fails to fully load the firmware, POE lights fail to work during g firmware test during load. I'm suspecting bad EEPROM Read.
Does anyone have a Good Firmware I can have?...-

by wattageHello Badcaps Community,
I purchased a preowned AOC monitor that is not working and out of warranty. It was sold as not working. I am looking for guidance on self-repair. In particular, I am after the firmware for the monitor. At the end, I have included monitor model information and links to pics and vids of the issue.
The problem is that it will not display a picture on any of its inputs. And the on-screen menu does not appear. The power button works properly. It powers on with the remote as well. But the on-screen menu does not appear, even when not connected to any...-
