Hi everyone, i need some help fixing an msi r7 260x card, the card suddenly stopped working while being idle. There was a short on the vmem line (<1 ohm) on cold testing, but all voltages are present on hot testing, even on the vmem line (1.35v with chips and 1.5 v without) but all 4 vram modules were getting hot, i removed all vram modules(GDDR5 elpida, 4Gb each part no. EDW4032BABG) and three of them have about 7 ohm on vdd and 1 ohm on vddq and one has 18 ohm on vdd and 1 ohm on vddq, i compared this with another GDDR5 module albeit of a smaller size, it has a much higher resistance on vdd and vddq so i suspect that all vram chips are shorted, but I can't think of a reason to get all vram chips shorted at the same time. Also i think the card may still have a chance as it prevents posting (posting stops on the last step before beep) so it may still be trying to initialize, but its only my opinion, still need other's opinion.

Hi. My laptop was water damaged and many things didn't work. I managed to get it up and working but had problem with GPU and at the end it turned out to be a faulty VRAM (Hynix H5GC8H24AJR-R2c) and I replaced it with (Samsung K4G80325FB-HC25) and it worked sort of. On standard drivers I was able to play fine but once exit the game laptop thrown blue screen “video tdr failure”. When I installed gaming drivers it worked fine ok, but when was running on a battery only was giving me blue screens. I think the problems is due to a wrong Straps... -
I bricked a 6700xt last year, and worked on it some. But I either broke some solderballs loose, or cooked the core or vram.
I tried to remove the core, then just a vram chip, and I couldn't do it, with my crappy little 858D hotair station.
So what do people on here use to remove vram, which shouldn't be too hard, or the core ?
What about 2 crappy hotair stations? 1 on 1 side, 1 on the other side ? What about a $75 hotplate from amazon underneath the PCB to help hotair?

The voltage of my Palit GTX 1070 Ti's Vmem is 0V. The rest of the voltage rails (including Vcore) is present.
The resistance of Vmem to ground measured at the inductor is only about 6 ohms. When I injected about 1.2V at Vmem, the core heats up to just below 40C.
Does this mean I have a shorted core? -
Hi guys, i was wondering, i've got 9Ohms on Vmem, one of the mosfet was shortet to ground, so i've desoldered hi and low mosfets nad still low res, then i removed all of the memory chips, and the resistance is still low, so did you had maybe a card with that low res on memories, and the card was working fine ?
Removed the U1866Q and still without result, i dont have thermal cam so can't see where is hot spot when incjeting voltage.
The resistance on core is ok 0.1Ohm ((Power 0.8V when on)
Resistance on 12V 4K ohms (Power present when on)
Resistance on 12V PEX 4K ohms...
