Thanks, I'm able to enter the BIOS again, but not able to boot from USB, which is the same behaviour as before I tempered with it. At this point I'm more convinced it's a hardware related issue....

It's a Asus Strix G713QR-ES96 bios ver. 330 S/N M5NRKD018480218. The issue with the laptop is that is freezes at boot, ones it's past the logo and sound. It just stays at a blank screen. Before I was able to boot into the system sometimes but after I started playing with BIOS and EC it no longer boots. At this point I'm not sure if that's a hardware issue, but I want to rule out software before I dig in any further. I suspect that the liquid metal did some damage or got underneath the SOC, but want to deal with BIOS first. Do you guys use some paid software to do this or some freeware one? I'd...

Hello people. I want to flash a fresh BIOS bin file straight onto a chip. I downloaded a BIOS from official asus website and its suffix is something like a ".320". I can find some programs or tutorials to extract the BIOS, but I think most of them are for Intel? My question is does AMD bios work with those programs? Could you guys point me in the right direction so I can extract the bin file? Thanks

I did some measurements, and the only thing I found off is the I2C DISP BKLT SDA and I2C DISP BKLT SCL lines. They show 1.24V and some data flow during boot, then goes OV. I compared this with another working LCD, where the voltage remains steady — that's the only difference I found.
There's one SPI line I don't have access to; I'd need to solder a wire to the connector to measure it. So yes, the faulty screen sometimes displays content and sometimes doesn't. In both cases, the touchscreen and keyboard aren't working....

Macbook Air M2 A2681 Keyboard and trackpad not working with certain LCD
Hello. As in description, TP and KB are not working when connected to the OEM display (working one). The angle sensor was damaged by a water, other than that I cannot find any more liquid damage or even stains. I took the bezel off the LCD to inspect but it looks intact. when I connect a spare LCD it works like a charm. I never seen before a laptop where KB and TP would work due to a display that is displaying without any issue. Any idea?

DELL XPS 9570 no post no display
Hi. It's a long story with that laptop. Initially, it wouldn't turn on. Some MOSFETs were shorted, and 0-ohm resistors connected to the current measuring circuit were fried as well. I didn't know about the resistors at the time, so I replaced the MOSFETs and was able to turn on the laptop by connecting 20V directly to the B+ line. Windows booted, and everything worked fine.
Then another XPS came along without a BIOS chip, so I decided to borrow the IC from the first XPS. I made a backup of the first BIOS firmware. Some time later, I discovered that the resistors were fried...

Lenovo Legion 5 ryzen 7 5800H camera not detected
Hi. I'm using a Lenovo Legion 5 NM-D562 15ACH6H with ryzen 7 5800H that suffered a heavy impact at the back where the USB ports are. Initially, it didn't boot — just a black screen. I reballed the CPU, and it came back to life. Everything seems to be working fine, except the camera. It is not detected in Device Manager at all. I tried a previous BIOS version, checked the ribbon cable and resistors on the PCB. The camera receives 3.3V, and I can't find the reason why it wouldn't work. The microphones beside the camera work fine. When I tested the data lines to the SoC, there was some resistance...

Medion Erazer beast x25 freezes and resets only at low CPU usage
Medion Erazer beast x25 62307 MSN 30031969 GM5ZGXW AMD version
Hello. The laptop freezes and resets only at low CPU usage, practically at IDLE after a few minutes. There is no problem under a load, and I benchmarked it for over an hour. I noticed that one of the CPU coils was making whining noise at low CPU usage. I previously thought it was a BIOS problem, but updated BIOS and no change. I'm thinking of changing the CPU DrMos'es there are 5 of them all together. I have already swapped the DrMOSes first one with the last one (I desoldered them and soldered in swapping DrMos no.1 with...

Re: Configuring VRAM Straps resistor Acer Nitro 5 LA-H501P GTX 1070 after replacing V
Hi. Thanks for your reply. Yes it's the GTX1650 I don't know why I wrote 1070 probably because I sourced the VRAMs from 1070. That's what I did i set it to 0x0, but then the VRAM is not being detected at all, in gpu-z says unknown I have also tried other configurations e.g. 0x1 detects as micron, but rest without a luckLast edited by kuba2102; 03-09-2023, 08:46 PM.

Re: Macbook pro M1 a2338 820-02020 water damage only 5V but powers on from battery
Hello again. I replaced the part it solved the problem for a wee while then again I only get 5V. According to Louis Rossmann if you only get 5V and your CD3217 is not boot looping it means it's a bad one. In my case none of the ICs are boot looping. I have replaced the CD3217 from macbook pro 2019 (hopefully these are interchangeable) and again I get no boot loop on that new IC, which makes me think in it's not only that both CD3217 must have communication between themselves to initialise 20V, but...

Configuring VRAM Straps resistor Acer Nitro 5 LA-H501P GTX 1070 after replacing VRAM
Acer Nitro 5 LA-H501P GTX 1070
Hi. My laptop was water damaged and many things didn't work. I managed to get it up and working but had problem with GPU and at the end it turned out to be a faulty VRAM (Hynix H5GC8H24AJR-R2c) and I replaced it with (Samsung K4G80325FB-HC25) and it worked sort of. On standard drivers I was able to play fine but once exit the game laptop thrown blue screen “video tdr failure”. When I installed gaming drivers it worked fine ok, but when was running on a battery only was giving me blue screens. I think the problems is due to a wrong Straps...

MacBook Air M1 820-02016 No Power 50mA
MacBook Air M1 820-02016
Hello group. The Macbook was flooded and someone was already tinkering with it, it doesn't show any signs of life. The track pad was also affected by water, but didn't find any shorts. The charger initialises usually 5V and about 300mA and at 20V 20-50mA, voltages as below:
PP3V8_AON_VDDMAIN - 3.8v
PPBUS_AON -12.3V then 12.0V and going down and cycles
PPVDD_SOC_S1 - 0.62v
PP1V8_S2 -1.8v
PP2V5_AWAKE_NAND - 2.58v
PP1V25_S2 - 1.22v
PP3v3_S2_UPC - 3.3v
PP5v_S2 - 5.2V
PP3v3_UPC0_LDO - 3.3v
PP3v3_UPC1_LDO...

Alienware m15 R4 CPU or CPU drivers issue
Hi. I had a problem with this laptop that under a load it would crash the system, meaning the screen would go black and unresponsive. I have noticed that CPU drivers surrounding area of PCB has changed colour due to high temperature. I have tried to reball the Drivers, but after it laptop wouldn't turn on at all and it would trigger over current protection in the PSU. I ordered and replaced 3 of of 5 Drivers (3 CPU, 2 IGPU?), and it started producing 1.2V again but just for a second. I get led flashing out the CPU failure code. Now I'm not sure whether there is still a problem with the drivers...

Re: Macbook pro M1 a2338 820-02020 water damage only 5V but powers on from battery
Got it. Manage to find a short, the guilty parts name was UP900 keyboard backlight pwm. I thought I'll be able to source out the part from the old 2019 MacBook Pro but it's got different components. Does anyone know where to get it or some sort of substitution to it? Kind thank you
P.S. Never fully trust the schematics, they are cheeky bastardsLast edited by kuba2102; 11-12-2022, 07:06 PM.

Re: Macbook pro M1 a2338 820-02020 water damage only 5V but powers on from battery
I think that my post might have been either misunderstood or hasn't been read fully. Yes it's correct. Same voltage when measured a working M1 motherboard....Last edited by kuba2102; 11-11-2022, 05:15 PM.

UF400, UF500
UF725, UF720, UF710
UF260
UP800, UP900, QD530, UC710, UD560
UF400 VOLTAGES:
PPHV_INT0_AONSW.............5.15V
PPVBUS_USBC0...................5.16V
PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE .....1. 59 V
UPC0_SS............................0V
USBC0_3V3LDO_EN.............1.8V
PP1V8_S2 ...........(PIN L20)..1.8V
PP3V3_UPC0_LDO (PIN C22) 1.8V

Dell XPS 9570 no USB-C power
Dell XPS 9570 LA-G341P rev. 1.0
Hi. I'm having trouble getting the USB-C to work. There's sound when connecting a devices, but no voltage appears on the +VBUS_1 line and only 5v shows up when connecting a charger. The board was after a slight water damage but nowhere near the USB-C port or its components. Apart from water damage the board was 'attacked' with a screwdriver by previous technician, few capacitors were missing from PCH and PQ227, which is 702-5 missing and got it replaced with 702-C that is responsible for DCI detect, not 100% sure if that's the right replacement but...
