    p4sd - case d5w

hey, this p4sd mobo from another hp d530 sff is giving me the 3 red flash, which according to its manual is the Processor not seated/installed error, of course the proc is seated and installed, and works (tested on other pc) so i was wondering if anyone could point me to which direction should i look for... given this specific error.

Due to the rush i didnot checked the status i recieved the mobo

i have also replaced the caps i found blown (not all the caps on the board, just those that looked bad)... if you think i should replace any other specific cap due to this failure, please advise, im up to hear any opinion. I also applied a little heat to the board and i dont know if that may have damaged it, what do you think?...

I suspect of tracks on the board, or some sort of passive element shortcircuited, maybe an IC.... and nothing seems wrong, like burnt and that, with the board...

so, whats on your mind? any tip or idea is highly appreciated.

    thanks.

    peace.

Take pictures of both sides of the board, highlight the capacitor you replaced.

You put that white cap in, what is it?
Are those two blue LTEC 1800uf? Why? Can't you put some Panasonic low ESR caps in?

Thank you again, i am no expert when it comes to caps.

the white one is a..mm dude the only logo it has is like a rounded-corners triangule with letters "C G E" in it... there was originally a 560uf/4v but since i couldnt find that one i picked the closest i found... 680uf/16v

yeah the blues are Ltec but they are 1500uf my bad, 6.3v and the reason is because thats what i got and i havent found others, i am very limited when it comes to finding new parts, specially good ones, my bad again :s

            Thanks in advance.

              Re: p4sd - case d5w

A 680uf 16v replacement is easily available from Panasonic, same for 1500uf, you can use a higher voltage.

FM, FC, or FK <- best, starting from left to right.

Edit: Whoa hang on, 560uf, 4v? Sounds like it was a polymer. Replace it with another polymer of the same value, or a Panasonic FM, most likely needs a very low ESR.

                Re: p4sd - case d5w

yep.. it is in fact a polymer.. got the same board right in front of me (P4SD Rev. 1.07)

on mine, its a nippon chemicon PS 560uF 4V
theres another polymer cap on that board.. a Sanyo OSCON SP 6.3V 680uF between the RAM slots and the SATA ports.

oh and instead of the yellow fujitsu FPCAPs, mine has Sanyo OSCON [no series marking!?] 2.5V 820uF between the Panny FL's in the CPU VRM

edit: kinda funny.. seems like they put whatever caps were available on those boards. looking at the overview pic, every single cap except the Panasonic FL's in the CPU VRM are different than on mine.

                - VRM in has Nichicon HD instead of Teapo
                - VRM out has sanyo oscon instead of fujitsu fpcap
                - the various 6.3V 1000uF caps on mine are Teapo, on yours they're rubycon
                - the 2 LTecs near the RAM slots are Rubycon MCZ on mine
                - the cap right next to the "P4SD" text is a rubycon MBZ or MCZ on yours (looks like it), and a rubycon ZL on mine..

strange.. especially since a lot of them differ in both quality and ESR despite being in the same places..

edit: oops i forgot. chipset heatsink got replaced by me cause the original one was all bent up and had broken off fins, and a standard s478 retention module added cause i'm using it in a standard µATX tower..

                      Re: p4sd - case d5w

yeah i know, i have also realized how different they are, since i got plenty of em, oddly enough this is one of the very very few that has got Rubycon on it, and is that the reason why i chose to try to fix it, since one of the things ive learned from this site is "rubycon are the best"

can u explain me how different is the so called polymer caps from the rest of the caps on the board, like does it really make a difference? cause i have never bought caps asking for a polymer but mainly for just caps... u know :S and thats what i get and what im doing is a little list of all the caps and ask for better quality from somewhere faraway else.

and those pics look good for a cellphone cam

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

                        Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

Hey guys great forum glad to have found it. I bought a Sony XBR 65X900C cheaply because it didn't work. No signs of life at all not even a light/led. All I hear is a brief high voltage sound when I throw the power to it.

Didn't see any obvious signs of damage so right away started checking voltages. This is what I see:
