                whoa!
iirc that board is built with solid polys.
                pictures please.

kc8adu is right. The caps on that board don't fail, unless the seller has replaced them with lytics.

We need some pics before we can say what will work and whether it actually needs new caps.
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

i cant really tell if they have blown, but from what i know it doesnt POST and the bios chip has been replaced. i was told the caps could have blown but theres no damage to the board

Those look to be 100% solids. All I see are fujitsu and UCC, good brands. I think your problem lies elsewhere.

What all are you using with this? Ram, cpu, video card, power supply (make+model please,) etc...

The colorsIT worries me, but that computer isn't too power heavy. How old is the psu?

Do you have another computer to check the ram in? If not, try booting up the computer without the ram and see if it beeps.

the ram was taken from my main machine, and ive also had the board hooked up to that hardware too

                            specs:

                            iCute ATX Modular 600w
                            Intel Core 2 Duo 2.40GHz
Generic PC2-4200 DDR2 2x1GB Ram (inc the corsair stick)
                            ASUS EN9800GT Hybridpower graphics

when doing that the LCD poster didnt say anything apart from CPU INIT

A lot of people have had the CPU INIT problem with these boards. Check your pins to make sure they aren't bent and make sure the cpu is seated correctly. Also make sure you have a 8pin cpu connector in the 8 pin cpu connector on the motherboard, not just a 4 pin.

This is what one guy said on the asus forums about his:

                              1. Pulled out all my ram, and then just put one stick of ram in the ram slot furtherest away from the CPU. 2. Turned on the PC and went into bios. Set the ram voltage to 2.2v (or set it to whatever your memory should run at). 3. Turned off the PC and put all the memory back in again. 4. I removed my CPU heatsink and CPU. I found a little piece of plastic (I assume from the manufacturing process) stuck in between a few pins on the motherboard. I removed it and re-installed the CPU
The connector was not properly in and, in fact, it was being bent upwards by the heatpipe - putting strain on the ATX12V mobo connector.

pins are fine, hooked up my 600w psu and firmly plugged in the 8pin cable.

                                CPU INIT + no beeps

                                  Try all the RAM slots.

I have a DFI lanparty NF4 SLI board which is very picky about having single sticks of RAM installed in a specific slot for it to POST.

It used to moan at me when I had it in slot 1 that I should put it in slot 2, then I upgraded the BIOS, it wouldn't do anything, thought I'd bricked it. Posted fine in slot 2.

Is the replacement BIOS chip proven to work on another Striker Extreme ?

What are the markings on top of the BIOS chip itself ?

that board is likely still in warrenty through asus.
just call them up and tell them what you have done and go from there.they were easy to deal with when the northbridge died on one of mine.
