    SMD inductor code X

I am trying to repair a nvidia gtx 780 and after checking the main rails
it came out this X inductor (it's named L17) is open. Obviosly, I checked if there was a short and yes, a shorted capacitor (part of the 12V rail filter powering up the phase responsible for the Vcore of the GPU)
was responsible for the killing of the X inductor.
So far, so good. But, what about this X code. What is the meaning?

It's a fuse (why they write L near it .. I don't know) .... but this code X doesn't help a lot in order to find the correct value and type of the little beast.
Can anyone guess what kind of fuse and hwo many ampere it's the correct value here? The GPU is a GTX 780

Yep, thank you .... checking some datasheet on littlefuse, I think it's probably the correct value.
I said probably because the current limit determined by X depend on the type of fuse.
But this card had a TDP of 250W ... so 8+12 seems reasonable 20x12=240W ... ok, you have not costant current, it powers a switching power regulator, but since it's polyphase you have current drain from a phase almost all the time.

The fuse marking X will be a 12amp, The L17 designation would be for a coil but I suspect a design change or a different manufacture had them install a fuse for better protection.

In effect usually there is a coil in other card of the same type but different brand.

              12A, so be it.

              Thanks.

PS: I don't think is necessary to replace the shorted cap I blown (to find the short) ... there are plenty of them in parallel they are there just for filtering.

Intergraph TDZ 2000 mainboard post code 2F/2E
                by Sorrow1
                Hi,

I try to repair an old Intergraph TDZ 2000 from 1998. It is a dual Pentum II machine based on Intel 440LX chipset. There is a non-removable bios chip named PhoenixBios B1787840. I cannot see any physical damage to the board. All caps look OK.

It shows no picture and POST stops with code 2F/2E regardless whether or not any graphic card is plugged in. If memory is removed, it stops on previous code 28/17 and stars beeping. I tested both CPUs in another machine and I also use RAM from another machine.

When I recorded video of POST card and played it in slow...

Lenovo S145 -15iwl vcore inductor warm.. looking with oscilloscope there is a spike.
                by Bartoloni
Hi, i have a Lenovo S145 that after 20 seconds shutdown and restart (it's working correctly on thse 20 seconds)
everything seems ok, but on Vcore inductor ( this is an i3 with just 1 switching power supply for CPU)

there is an output to teh CPU with a spike.. seems that inductor can't handle the input...
replaced the capacitor (330) and the inductor (R15) without any change
                any idea? very thank you!

input of the inductor seems as usual... only strange thing is that the upper/lower voltages seems to be 21V (main power line is 19.3) ... but not sure this...

                MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4 (MS-7D25) - stuck during boot every second time - debug code 16 & A1
                by DynaxSC
                Hi Folks

I have an MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4 (MS-7525) which underwent LGA1700 replacement and had a missing resistor in the VRM section. The missing resistor RV170 (49,9Ω) has been resoldered, and I have also replaced a demaged LGA1700 socket.

Generally the board does boot to Windows, but not always in the first attempt, but after the second attemp to boot the board with Power Button. Also restarting the board from Windows ends up with stuck boot process, but restarting the board again (long push Power Button or switching off and on PSU). Under Windows etherything works

                How to read inductor specs?
                by badcap111
I have a broken samsung galaxy s10 with missing inductor. I want to replace the missing inductor and I have found some vendors. But I don't understand how to read the specifications of the inductor. The specs are:

                INDUCTOR-SMD;470NH,20%,2520,T0.8,0.029OH

I understand that the inductor is 470 nH with 20% margin, and the size is 2520 or 1008 (imperial measure), but what do T0.8,0.0290OH mean? I can't find any explanation on the web.
