    MS-6712v1.0A KT4V-L

    This mobo does not POST

    Found two SMT Alu miniature caps amiss near the battery holder.
    These should be easy to replace even if I use Pana FM equivalents
    (that being so) to test if the patch will fix the problem.

    I found the battery completely dead. 0 volts.
    Suspect it may be related.
    Anyway, I have posted an enquiry on the MSI forums in the
    hope some members can ID these cap values.

    Which brings me to my next question. I feel an idiot.
    How? I have looked at another two SMT Alu miniature caps
    on this mobo. The markings are, for example;
    10 16G 308 (EC35) and 10 16G 309 (EC46)
    The numbers in brackets are the silk screen decals.

    However, should I calc. the values as follows;
    1. G - 4V working voltage
    2. 30 - significant figures (cap value in pF 10^-12) so 30pF
    3. 8 and 9 - the exponents (10^8 and 10^9)

    Result - mult. 2 by 3
    Is this correct?

    Just want to check that's all.

    Re: MS-6712v1.0A KT4V-L

    if they're electrolytics (as you said SMT Alu caps) the're more likely 10uF@16V.
    a pic would be helpful.

      Attached you'll find a stock pic from MSI

      The caps in question can be found;
      1. Botton left quadrant
      2. Locate battery
      3. Both of the caps are to the left and slightly
      above the battery

      Thanks

        Got an answer from MSI Europe via MSI Forums

        see further;

        These are in fact 10uF 16V as you suggested

        Thanks

          Most likely for audio couplings if negative side is not grounded due to proximity of the AC97 audio chip processor.

            Those 10uF/16v caps in the audio signal path won't fail - it's only a line level signal, and there's very little ripple current on them. You can upgrade them to improve the sound quality, for which the Nichicon Muse SW series (85c, subminiature, through-hole) is about the only choice that will physically fit *and* sound great.

              those 10@16 often are bad on msi boards.
              even the ones in the audio path.

                Recapping Sony ICF-SW55 - verifying cap values
                by proxneo
                Dear reader

                I am performing a repair on a Sony ICF-SW55, which includes recapping (some) of the SMD capacitors on the mainboard. I am looking for verification of their values. At the moment, I'm 95% sure I've got the right values, but it is hard to find some official, credible or multiple independant sources on this.

                At the moment, I have selected replacements based on the following list of values:

                3 x 470uF 10VDC
                3 x 4.7uF 35VDC
                4 x 47uF 50VDC
                8 x 22uF 6.3 VDC
                1 x 220uF 6.3VDC
                5 x 100uF 6.3VDC

                Which...

                Different (lower) resistor values on PCB?
                by Kobok
                Dear Alls,
                For sure it id a stupid question, but help me to understand. I am in a Dell 2007WFP revitalizing project - searching reason why not starting. Some resistors needed to replaced is is obvious. When I have soldered some resistors the measured (with multimeter) values were sometimes rather different written on them. I supposed these are wrong units so I desoldered and made a checking measurement and voilá the values is the same is written on. This happens only in case of a few resistors, most have the same values (+/- 10%) are written on it. "strange" SMD resistors =>103...

                what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
                by ChaosLegionnaire
                so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

                i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...

                Here some measurements on HP Victus 16-d0500la, it might help someone, the values are on diode mode->mV and some lower ones on Resistance->Ω.

                This specific laptop has an Intel i5 11400h + RTX 3050TI, the values are from a working laptop....

                Mobo MSI B550-A PRO password popup
                by Cerberuska
                Hello guys,
                I have interesting problem. My MoBo MSI running on Ryzen 7 w/o graphics just good. I swapped to Ryzen 5 5600G and on the boot I stuck with screen on picture. Enter Password. I checked BIOS setting with Ryzen 7, no security is enabled, BIOS password or TPM.
                BIOS I updated to last one.
                any suggestions?
                And same thing for two different 5600G, and yes, MoBo supposed to support it.
                Thank you...
