    Asrock P4i945GC

I am attempting to fix this Asrock P4i945GC mobo, I found a bad caps near the CPU. I have tested the mobo with the bad caps still on it, without RAM, it will give beep code of no RAM. With RAM on the mobo it won't beep, but there is no display. After a few minute with the system turned on, the choke slowly heating up till the point where it is untouchable, the bad cap is the one which is the hottest. The underside of the PCB has been discolored due to the heat i guess.

After replacing the caps, the mobo still the same as before the caps were replaced. The replaced cap was still very hot to touch, now i am guessing it was the choke/vrm's fault, is there any way to test them? Is super hot choke a symptom of failure ?

    Thanks, any help is appreciated

looking at the last foto, the coils probably need resoldering.

Those circled in red are capacitors and yellow are coil. I have checked, i am pretty sure the solder are just fine, they appear to be black due to bad lighting.

UPDATE: The next morning I turn on the motherboard and it appears to be fine, I left it untouch since last night.

That's like replacing a flat tire with a slightly less flat tire. Chemicon KZJ and KZG are known to have *many* problems on motherboards. Avoid!

Also, there may be other Ost caps on the board that are bad. You need to do a full recap on the motherboard. Post more pictures of the entire board so we can see what you are seeing.

As for the hot VRM - it might be because it is designed badly or because those brown Chemicon caps on the input are bad too. If they are KZG, replace them. If they are KZE, you can leave them alone.

Since the VRM coils are rated for fairly low inductance, you can probably do a polymer mod (i.e. poly mod) here. 820 uF 2.5V/4V/6.3V polymer caps should work great here.

Corsair cx600 psu & ASRock B450Pro4 mobo wont start
              by Ibod
HI I have a PC using a Corsair cx600 psu & ASRock B450 Pro4 mother board that won't power on after a shutdown (replaced a dead drive in a raid array) Not the boot drive.

With most things unplugged, including the 24 pin ATX connector, but not the ATX12v to cpu, I have +5.01V on the +5vsb pin 9 from the PSU. When I plug the 24 pin back in to the mobo, the +5vsb fluctuates between 1.1v & 1.9v.

Not sure where to go from here ?

Is the PSU at fault or is the mobo causing the problem

Look forward to any help :-)

              Issue:

I got this motherboard with a burnt trace and a burnt SOT-23.
              On top it has M091 (I think it's a AP2309GN
              https://www.alldatasheet.com/datashe.../AP2309GN.html).

This sot-23 connects to the mosfet that then powers the trace that got burnt (se pics).
It had a blob and a broken leg on the S-D path, G was spared but it shorts to both S and D.

Source is from +5VSB; Gate is +5V can't figure from where.

I can't identify, for sure, what this is and my only solution is to either get the .fz file or get lucky and have...

ASRock N100M, no picture no boot, but semi-alive
              by Exim
              Hi guys,
I managed to semi-kill an ASRock N100M board after updating Bios from 1.10 to 2.01. It's a zombie now, dead, but not dead.

              ASRock N100M special features:
              - CPU soldered to board, small Intel 12th gen
              - iGPU
              - four POST LEDs

Problem after updating Bios to 2.01 using the in-Bios update tool: no picture, no boot.
I am not sure anymore if it booted at least once successfully after updating the bios to 2.01, maybe not, I can't remember. I think it did not.

              Symptoms:
              - no picture/signal on any of the display connectors,...

what i went through dealing with my mobo with dead onboard sound!
              by ChaosLegionnaire
so i took out one of my spare gigabyte ep35-ds3r mobos from storage for use to do some cpu, ram and video card testing of stuff i bought from ebay and got for free from momaka. he bought 50 e8400 cpus for cheap from ebay some years ago and i decided to help him relieve him of some of his supply since he had waaaay too many!! what did we say about hoarding too much stuff and depriving others of them?! *cough* socialism *cough* lol!

i had to blow some dust off the board and heatsinks with the datavac as i didnt clean it up before putting it in storage. after finishing...
