    wich value this cap?

    Hi...

i've an smd capacitor, but i don't understand how to read value...

    the code is:

    7,5 B
    3E

    Ceramic or tantalum?

      ceramic....

i think that is 7.5 uF and 16v....

        uh...tricky.
3E might be 1.5nF, but frankly, these numbers don't fit into any pattern I'm familiar with.
No other markings? Anything that might indicate polarity?
        Anyone?

          Re: wich value this cap?

no other codes... and only a stripe that indicate polarity

maybe i think that is 16v because all other non smd tantalim capacitors, are 470uF and 16v.

7.5ยต is no standard value for caps.
If there's a stripe, it might be a zener diode (where 7.5 is a common value), maybe 3W.
If it's still working, it's easy to test with a DMM.

you are in right is a zener...
i don't know why don't think about it...

i've replaced it with a a non smd zener...
...and now the power supply of the lcd works again...

              thanks a lot

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) - 5V, won't turn on - please help me understand why
                by mkdj
                Hello everyone,

About me, my goal and the equipment I (don't) have:
I am brand new to this forum, and I am eager to learn about repairing laptops. I have an engineer background although I haven't done electronics for a while. I have watched several Youtube videos in the last two months, trying to understand how to diagnose a faulty motherboard. I have a USB-C Amp meter and a classic multi meter. No DC Power Supply to inject voltage, no soldering iron to replace components.

About my issue and my goal:
A friend of mine has a MacBook Air M1 A2337 that does not...

Is it possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue meter?
                by chth96
I read EBOOK of Testing Electronic Component and found that

"In order to test the small blue resin coated ceramic disk capacitor which has 104 50v specification,it is possible to test this small ceramic capacitor by making use of analogue meter.
Set to times 10Kohm that has 12v output from the probe to check disorder of ceramic capacitor.
It is not uncommon that testing result of digital capacitance meter is okay,But It show shorted reading when you check it with analogue meter."

Is it really possible to test small ceramic disc capacitor with analogue...

cracked tantalum cap on a video card. safe to apply power without fireworks?
                by ChaosLegionnaire
please refer to the attached pics. is it safe to apply power with that tantalum cap like that without causing fireworks? i dont wanna burn a hole through the pcb as the gpu chip is on the other side.

happened to me once before with a shorted mlcc. shorted mlcc on a vrm power phase burned a hole through the pcb power section but thankfully that was nowhere near the gpu chip. but the video card still ended up in the landfill anyway tho as the burn-through was not fixable.

so do let me know what u think of the chipped tantalum there. thanks....

Ceramic capacitors/resistors - do suppliers matter?
                by spleenharvester
I want to buy one of those SMD component books so I don't have to spend as much time searching my scrap boards for what I need, specifically ceramic caps and resistors as they seem to be what I spend most of my time replacing. But the only ones I can find are no name brands. Does manufacturer matter as much for SMD parts as it does with electrolytics or is the generic stuff likely to be fine?

                dead transformer on ceramic oven
                by Wolf1977
hi in ceramic oven the transformer is damaged
                and writes
                2x115v/2x12v/6VA 50-60hz ta105/f
                can you suggest me a compatible transformer ;
                i have found in 70 degrees celsius do you think is suitable for ceramic oven ;
