Hellow guys, as the title says i am looking for a 9 pin cable to conect my programmer ( Tl866ii plus) with the mb without the need to take out the bios chip in order to read it or re-program it. So far i can find cables for 10 pin jspi1 header or for 12 pin, which are not compatible. Maybe i am typing it wrong, so if you give me a hand with some links or under which name i have to look for it would ne very helpul. Thank you very much for your time.

Search for a 2x5 IDC female to female cable with 0.1" spacing (2.54 mm pitch). Yes it will be 10 pins but observe that one pin is broken / not used on the source. This is intentional so that you know the position on how to seat the cable for a 1:1 mapping.
That is, mount the color coded 10 pin cable (only 9 wires are used on this design) with the same color wire aligned on both sides to the broken pin. Only then will you have a 1:1 mapping.
Personally do not have the same programming tool so not sure if it is even possible to use your hardware + this cable to program the target flash device.
In the end, the flash device = 8 pins + ground = 9 wires to access this flash memory for R/W/E activity.
Are you 100% sure that this 9 pin male header on the motherboard is intended to be used with your programmer?

Ok. It should be possible but need to start with a clear idea on the pin mappings of the 2 x 5 pin with 1 pin missing pinout that is present on the motherboard.
Did they share this information in the motherboard manual? If not, you will need to use your meter in diode mode and probe away. Place one meter probe on the male pin header; other meter probe onto the flash memory device. If it tone beeps, record the mapping.
Post a full diagram and the flash IC pin # once this is done.
Once you have this wiring diagram, need to review the same from the target programmer tool you plan to use.
In the end, you want a 1:1 wiring from the programmer to this target flash device that is onboard + common ground. The power will be from the motherboard to power this flash device.
Always double check your work and wiring. Do not power on till this is confirmed - twice.
Then start with a detection of the IDs of the flash device. If you can retrieve the IDs, you should be in good shape to perform a full READ / full Write / full chip Erase.Last edited by mon2; 09-19-2024, 07:22 AM.

It is the Dupont 2.0mm 2x5P connectors, NOT the 0.1" (2.54mm)! The 2.54mm pitch is too big! Use a ruler to measure the distance between pins to make sure. I made my own cable with an SN-2549S Crimp tool (about $10USD on aliexpress) the 2.0mm 2x5P Dupont housing and terminals, and some ribbon cable.
