I broke it, my new A8R32-MVP... crap.

My system became unstable again, in games it tends to freeze up. I've noticed sometimes while playing games I'll get this black line appear for a split moment in the screen someplace. I thought Oh snap my new X1950XT has a memory hole! So I took the PC apart, thought I'd check for a bad connection someplace, and in the process I found this:

That cluster of small caps is right underneath the front of the graphics card. Now I don't have a clue where that dent came from, but the card's PCB hangs down some right in front of there so I might have smacked it on the cap when putting the card in. Could this be the cause of my trouble?

If it is the source of my problem, Anyone know where I can get an exact replacement cap for that? I figure my warranty is probably void now anyway since they don't cover self-inflicted physical damage, so I might as well fix it myself. If I can't get an exact replacement cap, then I suppose I should replace all 6 in that cluster so they all match. It is a 16V, 100uF cap, with KMG written on it. I can get more info from it if needed, but I'd have to pull out my mobo to do that.

    Thanks.

    That's a UCC KMG series part, general purpose, 105C, 5mm x 11mm case, Digi-Key P/N 565-1307-ND, $0.29USD.

It says 16V on the side, not 25V

This one is the same specs as the one you listed except it is 16V. Also found it on ebay as well. I'll probably go with the one that has cheaper shipping (price on the cap itself is the same).

Seeing that it is a general purpose 100uF 16V cap @ 105C you can probably get one at a good local electronics component store. Certainly can here is Aussie.

How can you tell between a plain old general purpose cap and the ones with more specific specs, like ESR and whatever else? I know that just plain-old caps aren't a good thing to use for the main caps on a mobo, though I have done it on two mobos so far (before I knew better). The only side effect is they boot very slow but they work fine othewise after booting up.

I already ordered the new cap though, at least it'll match in perfectly and won't look like I've done anything to it

I have a UCC catalog (as well as Nichicon and Rubycon) at work. I also have a D-K catalog. [url=https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=827]This thread has urls for UCC, Nichicon, Rubycon and Panasonic's catalogs, though updating may be in order.

I don't think that this cap is causing your problems.

I'd say that cap is more likely for audio (de)coupling than anything else.

I agree, I don't think that cap is your problem. I'd look to the caps on the video card instead.

Really... I wondered about that, but I thought well it is right near the slot....

gfx card is brand new too. Back from RMA because the original went wacky on me. I'm sure Newegg would love me RMA'ing again

Is your video card getting enough power? What kind of power supply do you have?
