DELL GX620 DT board needs recapped

I have a GX620 desktop and it has a crapload of split tops with some electrolyte on them. I want to purchase a kit of caps from the store but they only list the SFF and USFF boards in the kits. Is there another kit for the DT boards or can someone help me figure out what I may need to buy?

    Symptoms:
PC is very slow and memtest86 shows errors non stop once it hits the 128MB mark no matter what stick of ram is in it.

Hi and welcome to the Badcaps site !

A number the guys here know that M'board well and the capacitors it has, but to expedite help please begin by listing the make, series and electrical values of the bad capacitors so replacements can be suggested. A couple of clear well lit pictures of the board will be useful too.
If you wish, Badcaps also offers professional repair and return service at a reasonable cost.

I was more hoping to just buy a kit to replace them all. I don't want to replace the bad ones and have some other fail in a couple months. As for a repair, unfortunately that is out of the question. I can pick up a system pull motherboard with a 90 day warranty for around $25. I'd rather try to fix this for $10 in caps and have the satisfaction of doing it myself. Thanks for the response though.

I'm sure "Topcat" the sites owner can get you fixed up with exactly what you need, and you're welcome.

Hopefully this will be seen and I get a response. I wanted to email someone at the actual store but it says to use the forums here.

Re: DELL GX620 DT board needs recapped

I went ahead and pulled the board and grabbed a count and values from the board.

It matches the SFF kit exact.

            4 2200uF 6.3v
            5 1800uF 6.3v
            1 1000uF 16v

It also has quite a few(25) 220uF 16v caps but they are all in good shape. I can't imagine replacing all of these as the kit above has all the caps from the memory area and the chipset area covered. I'm currently getting memory errors so I think this may be what I need. The caps that are popped are two of the 6.3v 2200uFs near the chipset. I thought that some of the smaller 1800's were popped but it's some sort of marker.

Re: DELL GX620 DT board needs recapped

Most of the experts here will advise you that the smaller caps you are talking about seldom present a problem as long as they are not from a known low quality manufacturer. So for now leave them in. Go ahead and order your kit now with confidence from your research.

There's over 20 threads in this site dealing with your motherboard so there's a wealth of info and hints/tips to draw from, just Search GX620 and you'll see that just about any 'recapping the GX620' question has been covered. Good job so far !

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't

                Hello,

I'm Working on replacing an Inductor on this Dell's board and I need to come up with a compatible replacement. As much as I would like to smash a comparable 2R2 in the same spot I'd like to confirm the specs before confirming a killed board. For my purposes I'd be happy with a second opinion on the replacement inductor or the actual schematics/board view. As this is a commonly used Dell Rugged in my local service area, schematics would greatly help in the future.

Thank you in advance for any assistance you can render.

                by master3112
I would like to share my experience about charging issues with Dell power supplies with the tech community. I am working on a Dell Inspiron 5590, Mainboard 18778-1 with charging problems. The device can be switched on and works so far, only the message appears at startup:

Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and Type cannot be determined. The battery may not change. The System will adjust the performace to match the power available.

The power supply unit is not recognized in the Bios and the charging process is set to "idle". I use original Dell battery, type...

I’m repairing a Dell Precision 3591 with board number 223092-1.
I need a full BIOS dump (W25Q16 and W25Q512 if available), clean and bootable.
The original chips could not back it up as i used 3,3v instead of 1.8v programmer which ,killed the chip
                bought new empty chip
the reason was to remove the bios password
Any working dump (from working unit) will help
is there anyway to rebuild one from scratch?
