    got a n.i.b vp6 and guess what?

found a new unused vp6 at a mom and pop computer store in the clearance bin for $10
put it on the bench and lit it off .
it works but getting .5v p-p hash on vcore.
guess those jackcon caps were crap when new!
when recapped the noise in only 25mv or so.

a NIB VP6 for 10 bucks, nice find! It doesn't surprise me the junkcon caps are bad out of the box, but I've never gotten a flaky NIB VP6...

However, I have seen a few MSI's and Gigabytes (using mostly Teyah and CHHSI caps), be flaky out of the box.

Even without use, electrolytic caps degrade and eventually "go bad", albeit after a loooong time. But considering the piss-poor manufacturing of these caps, going bad after 4 years on the shelf isn't suprising.

        Nice find by the way.

[MSI KT3 Ultra ARU] Advice on capacitor choice
          by cloppy007
I've found out that the all the Nichicon HM(M) caps on this board are faulty and need replacement. However, I didn't plan in advance and I don't have good replacement caps.

The original values are 2200uF, 6.3V, 5mm pitch. According to the datasheet, the rated impedance should be around 13-18 uOhms.

There are 8 of them, 3 to the left of the CPU socket and 5 on the bottom, very close to the northbridge. They are all connected, according to my multimeter.

I think I recall hearing that I don't have to use the same capacitance for in series...

Garage light only lights up when you hit it. Make your guess as to the cause!
          by SluggerB
The flood light over my garage was hanging out of the house due to the previous moron not knowing how to anchor it correctly. So I fixed that today

I then go to turn the light on tonight, and it doesn't stay on. If I tap it with a piece of wood, the lights come on for a sec them dim. Repeated tapping will cause it to eventually start working, until the switch is flipped, then it's a 50/50 shot it will work again or need to be tapped to start

So tomm begins the diagnosis. What do you think it is? Vote now!

help with AMD Ryzen 5 7535hs power rails
          by ferah831208
Hello there, does anyone have info about AMD Ryzen 5 7535hs power rails or an schematics from a compatible CPU?. I have a quanta G3PR from a HP victus laptop, I suspect cpu is damaged but I would like to know what power rail is the one I guess is damaged. There are 4 coils aprox 4.2 ohm to gnd in parallel next to CPU (I guess vcore) ,one coil same size next to those 4 around 0.7ohms to gnd (damaged rail I guess), and other two smaller I guess associated to less current power rails for CPU logic purposes. Anyone have more specific info? I attached picture.

          QN75QN85BAFXZA no backlight
          by howardc64
2+ year old TV with many (720? 65" version has 720) mini LED dimming zones. TV boots, has sound, panel picture can be seen with flashlight. No backlight. No TV model sticker on rear panel (Maybe Samsung service removed it, read below). Found the model # through the PSU and zoned LED driver board numbers.

PSU has a click near LED output circuit at 1 second interval, sounded like the 4x barrier rectifier area. Protective pastic liner under PSU shows heat signature on the Schottky Barrier Rectifier in this circuit. Found a shorted diode (2 diode per rectifier, failed rectifier labled...

Parasound Zamp v1 - Guess who's coming to dinner
          by Logistics
Just picked up this original Zamp. Only hooked it up in place of my Schiit Magni 3 momentarily to see if it functioned. Owner warned me the auto-on-off does not function and the unit must be unplugged to shut off. Has massive hum in both channels. The owner swears it must be a ground loop issue, which I've read they are sensitive to, but after opening the chassis up, I was met by a very uninvited ensemble of guests.

Needless to say I started writing down values and taking measurements and then fired up Digi-Key....
