The Above board is in an HP 8300f pc and it appears that the filtering for the processor fan failed due to bad TK caps.

It's even on sale this month. I've never seen one of these boards not work after recapping them.

recapped lots of these and all worked but 1.
it had been messed with before it got to me.

That's how it used to be, but I'm seeing more and more of these boards with other problems nowadays. The chipsets have the bumpgate defect, and that is starting to kill them off now.

Indeed.
Mine is starting to loose the LAN on cold boots if the room temperature is below 65F. Probably why I got it for free, too.

One thing to note is that it really helps - temperature-wise - if you use a dedicated video card with these motherboards rather than the onboard 6200/6250 chipset. If you keep the chipset as cool as possible, those boards should last pretty long time.

I would always put 40mm fans on the chipset heatsinks. I'm pretty sure that most of the ones I've done that to are still alive.
