SX280 not powering on; amber blips once, da-2 fades off

Well, here again with another "it's not working after I recapped it, thinking I had this one in-the-bag".
SX280 Phrizbee, I recapped it's twin sitting at the same work-station only a month earlier, worked like a dream(and still is).
My friend who got to this current problem initially opened the case to find the chipset-heatsink-clamp-hold-downs !?desoldered?! from the motherboard, wow.
Well, on site, he re-soldered the spring-clamp-hold-dowm to the board thinking that would fix the issue of it not turning on, and it still didn't work....
*he doesn't play in the bad-caps field so it wasn't something he was looking for while performing the hold-down fix*

Anyhow... I get it here, and recap the standard '6mm & above' caps with what appropriate poly's I have from badcaps.net, and fill the others with similar samxon's and rubycon's.
The post-recap issue: plug in the DA-2 power supply... wait a moment... amber power light blips once and then you notice the DA-2 power LED start to fade out, as well as the LED near the center-area of the board. The DA-2 fades to black and doesn't come back, and the computer/board won't even begin to power-on.
Unplug the DA-2, re-plug, same cycle of blip & fade; doesn't change.

I spoke with my friend... after I sat and freaked out while stripping the board down to make certain it wasn't any one component causing this... he claimed that he saw and experienced the same problem after his attempted fix for the chipset heatsink detaching. *phew* I think...

Has anyone seen/experienced this(maybe even resolved this problem) and/or what should I be thinking about here?
Oh yeah, I have two DA-2 supplies here, both do the same thing, and as far as I'd know they're OK. I also have faith in what Topcat and others say... "they don't fail".

    In advance, thanks guys.

I have a similar problem with an SX280 I re-capped. Wasn't doing it before I performed the re-cap, it was just unstable.

Plug in a DA-2 power supply.
Orange led on the mobo blinks, as if a short has been detected and it's shut down.
Unplug and re-plug the power supply, it usually works fine or I keep trying it in sucession.

Try it quite a few times and see what happens.

My thought is that the selection of caps I've used are too low ESR.

I've replaced every cap in that PC.

Check the solder joints on the heat sync hold down. It completes a circuit and the machine wont power on without it. Do the fans spin up at all?

        Hi,

I had something similar with a 620 and this was due to a ham fisted bad fitted CPU. In fact some of the socket pins were so mangled it wasn't worth repairing. Changing caps is one thing, a CPU socket is way out of my league as I don't have an SMD rework station.
Hope that isn't your problem otherwise it's probably a write off.

        Good luck

Checked heat sync contacts OK. Reflowed anyway.
CPU socket is fine as far as I can see.

Machine works fine once you get it to keep the light on...

Maybe the chipset got overheated by the heatsink clips coming off?

Sony kdl 65xg9505 green amber blinking
              by shahnld
              Good Day.

I just replaced tcon on my sony kdl 65xg9505 and getting green amber leds blinking. all voltages are ok according to working sequence.

i downloaded firmware from sony and there is no .pkg fike.. after extracting it gives another file which contains multiple files like inf, payload.bin and 3, 4 other files. i just did that usb but did not worked. anyone knows anything how to do it..?

green amber blinking stops after while and then starts again. tv responds to remote control on off etc. before installing new tcon backlite was coming on without backlite...

LG 55UH6150- trouble powering up, then half lit screen (pictures!)
              by valvashon
The 55" LG has been in the basement for a few months without being used. Turned it on yesterday, set came on as it should and showed a complete screen for about 5 seconds (was on a broadcast channel but no antenna was connected), then the screen went mostly dark with about 1/3 of the screen on the right lighting up with brighter lines in that lit part (sorry, no pictures of that). Power LED was cycling too, preventing the TV from fully powering up.
Pulled the back off, all boards looked OK. Pulled the LED connector, turned the set on to see if it would power up but I don't belive it...

HP 470 G5 blinking amber light no power
              by huzo
The board is daox8cmb6eo and i can't find no boardview or schematics on the forum or anywhere...

So i plug in the charger, amber light starts blinking ,there is 3.3V and 5V present, and 2.4V on the power button, board doesn't turn on, no shorts...
              I've tried flashing the bios...

interesting thing is the battery was around 7,8V, and it's 11.1V battery, the mosfet near the battery is open, but not charging,i desoldered it,tested it and it's fine ,but the amber light kept going on the charger so i charged the battery with power supply and got it to about 10.5V...

Asus 2021 ROG Strix G17 G713 not powering on and not charging.
              by DarKHawK
              Hi,

I have an Asus 2021 ROG Strix G17 G713 that is not powering on and not charging. Board number is G533-6050A3250201.
When plugged in, I found that the 3.3v/5v regulator was getting extremely hot, so I removed, next I found a short on the 3.3V rail. Removed the two 3.3v mosfets and found one of them shorted, but still the short on the rail did not clear. Then I injected voltage at that rail, and found out that U60400 the 2.5v rail was also getting hot. Removing it changed the short from 0 ohms to about 5-6 ohms, then I remove a bunch of other suspect components but that did...

Strange! Acer laptop not powering on but charging the battery (orange light on when charger and battery plugged in).
              by serious_electron
              Hello Everyone!

I have an Acer Aspire A315-42 laptop. I generally leave it on for long time by closing down its lid (so it enters the sleep mode). Recently, it rained quite heavily in out area. And the humidity and moisture seem to be high. So one late evening, after I opened the lid and turned on the laptop, it did power on as the blue light turned on but after it booted to the desktop screen, just 5-10 seconds after both the screen and blue light went out and laptop shut down (the blue power light turned orange). And after 2-4 seconds that orange light went off and the laptop died.
              ...
