    Biostar GeForce 6100-M9

So, yeah the CPU caps on this Biostar motherboard failed hard...ALL of them. It was used daily from December, 2007 to July, 2011. All the caps on the mobo are KZG. I heard that these caps tend to die after around 3 years?

I figured it might have been the power supply, considering it's a PowerMan 350W PSU with an old group regulated design with OST caps on the Primary and Secondary. I don't think it was the PSU though cause none of the caps are bulging or leaking and the PCB doesn't look burnt anywhere.

EDIT: I was wrong, besides the 5 KZG's that failed, there are 3 that didn't fail. And concerning the rest of the motherboard, the rest of them are OST's and they're all black. From what I have heard, OST's are mediocre but not TERRIBLE. I haven't had any OST's die on me but then again they seem to be very popular with the cheaper companies.

KZG are bad caps from a good manufacturer. They just got that line... wrong.

Your power supply might not have caused it, but I always like to see something a little more... beefy.
    Ludicrous gibs!

Yeah, this is from a friend's computer, I wouldn't run one of my computers on that wimpy thing BUT...Even with that dinky PSU, it only had to power an Athlon 64 3500+ (939), 3 sticks of RAM, and a single hard drive....No graphics card, it probably rarely peaked at 100W, so I guess the KZG's are to blame...If I were to replace them (never done it before ) would it be worth it?

I wouldn't worry about the PSU. In Win power men are good performers. It may not look beefy, but that would - probably - do 400W or even more with the ripple and voltages in spec. I reviewed a 400W In Win Power Man (PM me if you want a link) and I actually got 500W out of it. The ripple was a tad high but I've seen worse.
I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

Really? Yeah please send me a link cause I honestly don't think this thing could do over 350W. It has a -5V which means it's ancient and it has 18A on the 12V. I have a 300W Bestec (Which is only decent) that has 19A on the 12V and with NCC Primary caps (OST for secondary)

In Win designs most of their units, and they are competent. This is a single transistor forward, not really much that it needs to perform well.

But they can fail. I have seen Inwin Powerman with bulging Primary Capacitor (probably killed by apfc)

This one lacks PFC. It's just a standard single transistor forward. It also looks like it uses a PWM IC for the 5vsb (like the one I reviewed), rather than the two-transistor design.

I think caps failing on the Biostar 6100-M9 is quite common. From memeory the 5 caps 3300uf near the cpu is common to go bad. I did a re-cap to one sometime ago.

I did it again – I had to fulfill my inner desire to fix yet another old piece of hardware. This one is actually kind of worthwhile, too – it’s an EVGA e-GeForce 7600 GS AGP video card, model P/N: 256-A8-N542-T2. With the popularity of “retro” PCs from the Win9x to XP era going up, and the diminishing supply of decent AGP cards, it is expected their prices will go up. Or is it? I bought the this video card rather on the cheap side (~$9 USD shipped to my door), because the eBay seller listed it for parts or repair (and correctly noted the bad capacitors.)

                          So, here is the...
