    ECS (Elitegroup) MCP61PM-HM Recap questions

    I have a motherboard out of an HP Pavillion model A6332W with an ECS motherboard Model MCP61PM-HM (Nettle2) and is in need of recapping. My question is, do I have to replace all the electrolytics on the board or just the ones around the vrm and also bulged ones. Here is a complete list of electrolytics that I see on the board including the smaller ones. Thier is 58 caps in total.

    9 TK 6.3v 1800uf (the 4 VRM secondary caps and all others of this type on the board are bulged on top)
    3 TK 16v 1800uf (all 3 VRM primary caps look ok as do the rest listed below)

    5 G-Luxon 16v 470uf
    14 G-Luxon 16v 100uf
    10 G-Luxon 25v 10uf
    9 G-Luxon 25v 22uf

    This could get expensive.

      The small G-Luxons don't usually go bad. Maybe change the 470uF ones but not below that. TK=OST and should be all replaced.

          Yup. Replace everything 470uF and higher.

          Use these for all the 1800uF 6.3v caps, these for the 1800uF 16v caps on the VRM in, these for the OST 1000uF caps and these for the 470uF caps.
          I love putting bad caps and flat batteries in fire and watching them explode!!

          No wonder it doesn't work! You installed the jumper wires backwards

              We actually have 3 of these boards in the house at the moment, so probably will do mine next after I get my roommates redone. His was bsod'ing and crashing like mad. That's when I pulled the case and noticed the bulging capacitors. Thanks for the input on what to get. It saves me trying to cross them over to a better brand. I think rubycon seems to be the top of the line at the moment as far as reasonably priced capacitors go.

              Just finished replacing caps on a board out of an older Dell. They where the nichicon HM(N) series that are known to be bad around the time that the pc was manufactured. Overfilled from the factory I guess. The caps where so bad in that pc that it wouldn't even post. Worked fine after I replaced them.

                  ASUS P5GC-MX motherboard recap

                  Here’s another motherboard that needed a full recap: an ASUS P5GC-MX.
                  This one was gifted to me some years ago by user Pentium 4, along with a few other goodies. It actually came in working order with no bulging or leaking caps. However, I noted there were United Chemicon KZG caps everywhere on the motherboard. The CPU VRM output (CPU V_core) was the only exception: it had only 2x KZG. The rest was 6x UCC TMV 4V 680 uF caps… which aren’t any good news either.

                  So here is what the motherboard looked like with its original caps:

                  I've been seeing a lot of cheap-looking (but not always so cheap) no-name AGP video cards on eBay for a while. They started popping up quite a bit when the market for AGP cards became more alive all of a sudden due to interest in “retro” PCs. One thing that struck me about these cheapo cards is that they almost always seem to come with garbage caps - including the abominable Sacon FZ. That aside, though, I've been wondering about the rest of the quality (or lack of?) on these cards. So I decided to satisfy my curiosity yet again.

                  This one was actually suggested to me by ChaosLegionnaire....

                  Hope this is in the correct place.

                  I'm planning on recapping both motherboards. I actually already ordered recplament caps for them, where I will be changing out most for poly's.
                  Could use some double checking to see if I'm not doing something stupid .

                  Hello,
                  i have many Elitegroup EC10IS2 with empty BIOS battery. They have all a factory standard password, that i don´t know.
                  Remove battery / flush CMOS Memory / setting jumper will not work.

                  I also try the Unlock Key-Method from here (which not work): https://www.badcaps.net/forum/troubl...password/page3

                  Maybe you will find the standard password in BIOS or CMOS data (both txt-files are binary files with wrong extension)...

                  Got 4 LG L222WS 22" for free - psu recap

                  Got 4 CCFL 16/10 monitors for free.

                  The resolution is almost Full HD (1680x1050)

                  VGA Input only is a bummer though.

                  Uses cheap TN panel with terrible viewing angles.

                  Even though this is not 17" 5:4 screen, still has very low resell value here. Can be found for 15-20 euros.

                  All the 4 monitors were not working and needed psu recap. Used mix of mediocre / junk caps to recap them, then donated 3 of them to friends/relatives and kept 1 for myself. Also like to install extra caps on empty spaces to help them last longer.
