    HP 533 w/Trigem

I've run across a couple of these, the Trigems are always horrible. The bad caps are TMS; note the Rubycons sitting pretty beside the leakers in the photos.

    I read this thread:
    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...highlight=533w

According to HP, the "Echo" is an Asus-built board. The two Trigem-equipped models I've seen were purchased at Wal-Mart.

TMS are some of the sh*ttiest caps around. It has been joked that TMS stands for Total Monkey Sh*t.
    The great capacitor showdown!

Have never seen such gross looking caps. TMS gets my vote for dubious honour in bad caps list.

Those TMS caps are the caps which in my list leak the most. I have a Trigem board in an anti-static bag. I checked its caps and it doesn't have TMS caps. It has United Chemi-Con caps in the place of the TMS caps go on the Trigem boards seen here. And those United Chemi-Con caps came original on that board, really! That thing was from an HP Pavilion 514n system.

Wouldn't be surprised if HP arm-twisted the MB mfr into using UCC.

            Re: HP 533 w/Trigem

I have done a cap inspection on the Trigem motherboard I got. Here are the caps on this board I got:

            4x Rubycon 1500uf 16v MBZ capacitors (Low-ESR, 105°C)
            10x United Chemi-Con 1500uf 6.3v KZG capacitors (Low-ESR, 105°C)
            7x Sam-Young 470uf 16v SHL capacitors (General-Purpose, 85°C)
            3x G-Luxon 1000uf 16v GR capacitors (General-Purpose, 85°C)

And the rest are small and very small Sam-Young General-Purpose 85°C capacitors. I can't understand why the majority of the caps are general-purpose 85°C caps on this Trigem board I have.

I have also took a picture of the United-Chemicon caps on the board. Picture below.

RCA RTU6049 was a Walmart special in Canada
              by RinusB
              Regarding the RCA RTU6049.
There was/is a real problem with the FRC board. I have not fixed it yet but it overheats to 130 f. It then shuts down the picture and backlights.
I have already rotated the FRC board so the fins on the heatsink run vertically. Another 10 degree drop but it takes just longer now to turn off.
              The sound is fine.
Is the Hisense IC the problem? All voltages seem normal.
Backlights are good and all functions are working as long as it is on. The screen is not showing an image, just all turns off except the sound.

              Onn Tv made for Walmart
              by sirentech
I have a model ONC18TV001 made for Walmart. I was hoping maybe someone has a schematic or can help me with an IC part number. The LED driver IC has failed. I cannot read the marking on the IC. Looks like a 10 pin msop package. Thank you.

Netgear = By far the most horrible support ever!
              by Topcat
Bought a new Netgear ProSAFE JGS516PE POE switch for a security system; which stopped working for no explicable reason. It's on a UPS, no bad weather, ETC. POE function still powers the cameras, but it will pass no traffic and shows all ports as being unplugged. Definitely an internal issue.

It was still under "warranty", I had all the documentation (receipts), original box, and so on..... The cheese dick excuse I got for not honoring the warranty: "You didn't buy it directly from us or an 'authorized' vendor"..... In my 31 years of tech, I've never had a company...

              Garmin Echo 101
              by sknepscheld
              Hi

I am busy repairing a Garmin Echo 101 device that has a blown IC.

The only information on the IC is IV7DF. (See attached foto)

I am not able to find this component or any replacement.

Are you perhaps able to assist me to identify the component or a possible replacement?

              Regards

onn. (Element/Walmart) 32" LED add missing PC audio jack?
              by bluto
I picked this up yesterday at Walmart, a 32" LED TV (model #100002458) for just under $100 to use in my shop. A few months ago, the older models used the 'Element' brand name but apparently now they go by 'onn'. Either way it looks like they are all made by Tsinghau TongFang (THTF) Global. The main board is MS35533-ZC01-01.

Unfortunately it looks like on this one they had to leave off the PC audio 3.5mm input jack to save a few cents per unit. The older models all had this included. I took the cover off and there is clearly an unused location to receive the 3.5mm...
