HP 800 G2 DM front right USB dead

    Hello.
I received a lot of HP 800 G2 DM this week, during testing we found one of these has dead one USB in the front right, there is no visual damage and contact cleaner didn't work.
How can i verify if it's a connector OR motherboard problem to proceed accordingly ?

    Thank you!

Is it on a small daughter board, how does it connect to the motherboard header. Are there any protection diodes. Can you compare resistance measurements with a working one.

Easiest way is to use a Chipmunk USB tester. Both USB A and C types are available. You have to 2 x red LED's for power, plus a green LED showing bus activity.

If USB power is absent, you buzz out the connector itself to U53/U56. If there is no green LED activity, chase back the data lines via the chokes L17~L21. Usually these lines go back directly to the PCH, and it's often the PCH itself that has copped some damage.
