Re: Post help identifying capacitors here
Those caps look to be from Nippon Chemicon. I am going to guess they are KZG or KZJ series, which are known to die ugly.PeteS in CA

Asus a8r-mx/dp motherboard change 7 caps.
I have tried to solder them out with 350 to 450 heat but it don't work. The tenn isn't much on the pins and it's hard to reach them. It seems like the tip only gets against the legs? The solder tool is not the big right to the motherboard. It is the blue one.Comment

Re: Post help identifying capacitors here
I got one loose so the legs are left on the motherboard. It seems to be a black plastic plug on the back. It had been easy to insert a new one to the legs on the motherboard. If the + and - gets right. It is KZG 6.3V 1500UF (M)105c.Last edited by Oldschool297; 07-09-2023, 01:00 AM.Comment

You need to add some fresh solder to the legs, the more the better really.
It helps with heat transfer.
But above all you need to practice soldering on some scrap PCB's if you never did it successfully before or you will destroy this mainboard.
You also preferably need a decent soldering iron with say 60W of power, and thermal regulated.

I would make a guess that these are from 2009 but the problem with United Chemi-Con's dating system is they only print the last digit of the decade.
So the "9" can really mean 2009 or 1999 you really can't know... But 2009 is more likely (and 2019 is impossible because they where out of production then).
Keep in mind it is a good idea to reform old capacitors, see this thread for info: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=50530Last edited by Per Hansson; 07-09-2023, 03:08 AM."The one who says it cannot be done should never interrupt the one who is doing it."Comment

Re: Asus A8R-MX/DP motherboard change 7 caps
It seems hard i tried with 400 and it goes up to 450. But it dosen't loose. I tried to add more solder to the legs but then it only gets loose and the original solder to the legs are left.Comment

Re: Asus A8R-MX/DP motherboard change 7 caps
Take a look at this thread: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=485
The best way to remove the solder is with a needle as willawake shows further down in that thread:

Re: Asus A8R-MX/DP motherboard change 7 caps
I solved it by taking a bigger solder tool 75W. Thanks for the help. I bougth these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08RXW8VJ2...roduct_details i took a chanceComment

Re: Asus A8R-MX/DP motherboard change 7 caps
I got it to work with KZG 6.3v 1500uf. The system seems stabile to. It was the first time changing. Of course i placed the caps wrong the first time by looking at a photo online where the white strip on the caps should be on the white hemisphere on the motherboard. But i did not start it, by looking at the others i realized they was wrong so i had to solder them away one more time. Asus has the negative on the plus side. Reversed. Thanks for all help.Comment

by dhenionI'm working on my sister's laptop: Asus VivoBook F510UA-AH51 - The motherboard died so I replaced it.
The original board was:
ASUS X510UNR REV 3.0 A
The replacement board is:
ASUS X510UNR REV 3.0 B (identical except B vs A - I couldn't find an A board anywhere. Visually they are identical.)
It boots right up on the replaced motherboard and everything works fine on the new motherboard - but it won't run off battery. When I disconnect the charger it immediately dies. When I plug it back in and reboot the system - it still shows the battery at...1 Photo -

I've been attempting a repair of an Asus TUF H370 Gaming Motherboard. It fails to react to the power button being pressed, there's a debug light which confirms that there's standby power to the board but after any attempt to power on the components there's no sign of life. I've started my diagnosis and I know that the power-on... -
by lezsimplyHello Everyone and Good Day,
I've got an issue with this desktop motherboard. It does not power on, Asus Prime H310M-A R2.0. I tested 33ohms reading on 3v line on the ATX connector. It beeps on continuity mode. I tried injecting voltage from 0.9v at 1.5amps and no current being drawn. I raised the voltage to 3v @ 4amps and now I only get 22mA on current. I checked with thermal camera and there is no part heating up. I'm afraid of going further the safe voltage. What could possibly causing the line to be shorted. 5vsb has no short. I get 0.9v on positive pin of power switch. There's... -
Hi there,
I have an Asus G713QY that won't boot. The machine fire up to a black screen, no post but everything seems to check out on the board. I believe the motherboard needs the bios reloaded but I can't find the bios file. I've looked on the Asus website but what is available for download is the .exe to run in windows (which won't help). I've tried to unzip it but can't see the bios file that I need. Can anyone share the bios file for an Asus ROG G713QY-K4005T (SN: MANRKD03332840C), motherboard ref: G713-6050A3254002-MB-A01 (A1). Thanks
