    Motherboard ECS A320AM4-M3D Bios downgrade.

    Hi:

I have a cheap ECS A320AM4-M3D motherboard; works, the problem is that I update the BIOS to its most recent version and loses compatibility with the processor that was originally there (Ryzen 3200G) and that is the processor that I need to install there.

As I understand it, by "normal" procedures it is not possible to return to the original bios; The manufacturer told me that the only way is to use an EPROM programmer.

I have one (a cheap one XD), the CH341A used with the neoprogrammer.
I use this one (neoprogrammer) because it's the one that seems to work best and it's the only one that finds a similar chip and this is the problem, I've tried several programs but none have exactly the chip that motherboard has, a Gigadevice GD25LB128DSIG.

Using the neoprogrammer's automatic detection, it handles it like a Gigadevice GD25LQ128C.

Using this software, it seems to interact with the chip without any problem and lets me do a bios backup which seems fine (takes its normal time to do and is 16mb).

Looking at the data sheets (GD25LB128D and GD25LQ128C), they seem to be the same.

So, i can try to program although it is not the exact same chip model number or better not try?
Thanks for yours answers in advance .

yes, you can do everything because bios chip is same.
make sure the backup file is good!

Well... the thing is dead XD... so, especially if you're a noob, it's not a good idea to try to program the chip if it doesn't appear explicitly supported by your programmer, even though technically they look the same.

At the time of programming everything seemed to be going well, but when testing the motherboard it no longer worked.

Trying again, the neoprogrammer no longer recognizes it and other programs compatible with the CH341A either don't work well.

Did the chip get corrupted? Was damaged? Would it be a good idea to get another programmer whose software does support the GD25LB128D? What can I do now?

      Help is appreciated; Greetings.

it is possible putting the bios chip in the wrong polarity or voltage will kill it, although your bios chip is 1.8v did you use the adapter 5v/3v to 1.8v adapter? if no welp that might be the reason why is dead.
if you did use the voltage adapter... it's possible that the bios chip is dead in the first place.

Asus ROG Strix Scar G533qm with a G733qm Motherboard, can I modify the Bios to accept G533 Bios
          by glovecaps
          Hello,

I have a Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 (G533QM) that had a dead motherboard (Graphics card dead) and after trying to fix the motherboard with no success, I bit the bullet on a sale for a new motherboard. I ordered a motherboard for the 15 inch model which is the one that I have, and when the motherboard arrived it wasn't for a little while that I saw it was from the 17 inch model.

My question is, can I update the Bios on this G733 motherboard to a G533 Bios.

The reason for wanting to do this is that the keyboard isn't working as it should, and I think this...

ASUS ex-b250-V7 motherboard bios corrupted - by me
          by oragano
hey all, i did a silly thing and flashed bios to perfectly working board. None of the asus official download bios would work with ez flash. They all gave error saying not supported bios file. I tried using uefi tool to extract it to a bin file but then ez flash wouldnt even recognise it.
So, i used freedos and afudos with the aforementioned bin file i extracted and forced the issue. After bios reprogram, reboot and it was dead. Fans spinning but no post.
i have a bios writer and none of the .cap files from the official site work either. I just get one spin, then off, then all fans...

Is it okay to flash stock bios onto the motherboard's BIOS?
          by AkaBukai
          Hi there,
          I have a 14" Lenovo Laptop (Flex 5 14ALC05) which has a boot issue.
The little LED on the power button is flashing slowly and nothing happen.
This unit do not have any BIOS button cell battery so I tried many times draining the power but it is still not powering on.

So I decided to flash the BIOS using a cheap programmer.
And I was successfully able to read the content (exactly 16MB file) which BTW is a WINBOND 74m12jwsiq (according to the package inscription - but detected as W25Q128FW in the software - IMSProg on Linux)

          I also...

HP 14s-fq1010nm Black screen after BIOS update - cannot downgrade
          by mitchw
Just had a customer bring in a HP 14s-fq1010nm to do some maintenance.
After updating the BIOS to the latest (F.35) I get black screen (no backlight turning on). However the backlight turns on if I connect an external display to HDMI, but when booting to Windows, both displays remain black.
After disconnecting internal LCD, and plugging in external display via HDMI, it works on external.

I tried downgrading it using official method - using an USB drive with older BIOS version, but it fails, saying that the BIOS files are corrupted. I used about 5 different older BIOS versions...
