    Wireless Router only works 'Wired'

I've been reading the forum and wondered why this was so common, especially with Linksys products, but with others as well. Is this a common failure mode, or is it just me? If it's as common as I've found it to be, is there a common failure point, or are there multiple issues with different routers?

For instance, I've had at least four Linksys routers, obtained from various sources, which failed to connect wirelessly, but which worked fine from the ethernet ports. Is Linksys unreliable, did I get bad ones (probable, considering my usual 'thrift store' acquisition technique), or is it just that they are so common that my scrounging finds them most often? Conversely, I've seen a couple work flawlessly for years.

To reiterate; many routers I have obtained work 'wired' but will not connect via wifi. Almost always the router is visible on the air, and will apparently connect to a remote computer, but will not pass data. I've had professionals come in (as a favor) and in vain try everything possible to make a connection...cloning MAC addresses, different modes of connection, flashing BIOS etc.

Some have failed after working for a time, others were obtained used and probably didn't work when I got them; while others were defective--brand new--right out of the box...various brands and models, but most often Linksys (although I've never had a brand-new Linksys fail out of box).

RCA WHP141 wireless headphones wired up
    by momaka
OK, this one dates back to 2015! I thought I had posted this, but realized I didn’t when I posted a picture of something else. So here it goes…

Back in 2015, I bought a pair of RCA WHP141 wireless headphones at Micro Center for $2. I even mentioned it in the best cheap/free scores thread right here. Just forgot to follow up with that.

As mentioned back then, these are (were) 900 MHz FM wireless headphones. No modern day Blutooth or anything like that. I knew they wouldn’t be great headphones or even that good… but the price was right! So let’s take...

Why does my ISP router hate my "homemade" power supply??
    by double_DD
    Hi all,

It's gonna be a long intro, so please buckle in, as it's a problem that's been bugging me for several days now. Thanks in advance.

So, I have 2 modems/routers, whatever the proper nomenclature is, one from ISP and one mine. I want to power them via USB-C rather then their original mains adapters (for reasons, that are hard to explain to sane people). Both routers come with 12V/3A mains adapters.
For this purpose I acquired USB-C charger with 250W and 5 ports, 2 of which can supply max 20V/3A. Since 12V isn't a standard PD voltage option (and to future proof,...
