    HP Model HSTND-2B03 (HP1740) Help.

    Hi Guys,

I am new to this site so thank you very much for providing it.
I am repairing a HP LCD monitor but have a small problem. If you look at the component side picture you can clearly see a BENQ emblem. From this photo you will see I have remove 1 FET and the 4 2SC5705 transistors. It is on the foil side that I would like help. You will see I have put 2 red arrows pointing to D803 on the RHS and D801 on the LHS. I would like to know any information about these diodes please. I believe they are zenners and even the value of the components would be a help.

    Cheers, Dick.

        Sorry Guys,

I did not realise there was a size limit. I think I have got it now.

        Cheers, Dick.

Are you replacing them because they are burned out or because the eBay kit for your 48.LIG02.A01 board said to? If you don't have the tools then you are better to skip them so long as they aren't shorted and the monitor works when you are done.

What parts are in your kit?

Ahhh!!! The light dawns. Some unnamed person removed that diode, now you must replace it. I don't have the parts list for that monitor, but I do have one for a monitor which uses the same inverter circuit design. The part is listed as Diode, Schottky, 2A, 40V, DO214AC package.

                PB,

Thanks for the information. I thought they were zenner diodes.
I'll fit one and see how I go. Thanks again.

                Cheers, Dick.

I understand the relationship between Zen and motocycle maintenance, but never heard of it being used to repair monitors.

Checked my spare parts and could not find any. Have ordered them from Farnell but it will take a week before I get them. Thats the price for living in the country.

                        by Nr4ps
I'm trying to troubleshoot a DPS-167DP-1 A power supply board from a Vizio M552i-B2 tv. The tv would no longer turn on, and I found the usual melting on IC901, with D950B and ZD909 shorted and R915 open. Sounds like this is a pretty common failure, so I replaced all four components expecting it to be an easy fix but it's still not working.

I checked D801 and it's fine. I get about 170V DC across the main filter capacitor C800A. I'm not getting any voltage on the 5V standby pins in connector CN101, nor any voltage on the VCC pin of IC901, which is presumably why it's not working --...

                        Hi guys

Just a little story, some of you may find it slightly amusing

I did a job at one of the local hotels here in Puerto Rico Gran Canaria last week. Basically I had to get their PA system working in the chill out bar - it had all been disconnected while some work was undertaken and someone had taken the speakers down from the walls

Now that turned out to be that one channel on the 400W PA was not working. So I brought it back to the workshop, the problem was due to a faulty stereo/bridge mode switch. I fixed it, and installed it all on Monday. Traced...

                        The supply is a BN44-00782A.

Was told there was a "popping noise" and the set went dead. Upon inspection there was a split ceramic cap C814, a failed mosfet, either Q801 or Q802 I pulled and am replacing as a pair and of course the main fuse.

I replaced the cap marked 221 1kv with a 221 2kv (which I think will be fine?) and will be getting the other parts today. The switching diodes at D801 and D802 look and test good but the ferrite beads at BB801 and BB802 appear to have taken much current and are discoloured though still test as a short.

                        Do the...

                        Hi,
Pulled this monitor from storage and tried switched on power but i only got white display.
Not sure whether this monitor worked in the past.
I searched for schematic or service manual for the monitor and board model 715G4924-M01-000-0H4F but there is no info whatsoever.
Checked the fuse F701 for continuity and tested ok no short. Next i do dc voltage test on 3 pin regulator N32B 960T43 (upper middle part of board) at u702, got 5v at pin 3. Another 3 pin regulator N32C 912T43 at u703 also showed 5v at pin 3.
I also did dc voltage test at lvds connector at...

Handheld vacuum cleaner kills power adapters (With schematic)
                        by Dannyx
Good day folks. A friend of mine asked me to take a look at this handheld/upright vacuum cleaner which supposedly has power adapter issues and would no longer charge. Upon first inspection, its original 14v/400mA adapter was dead - the thermal fuse in the transformer's primary windings was open. I went out of my way to replace it and indeed brought the adapter back to life. I gave it back, it worked fine for a few days, then the chap calls me again and tells me the vac no longer charges again......

Ok, so this time I asked him to bring in the motor part as well since I thought something...
