    Sony 24" monitor Dying

The monitor is an OEM from HP, model A7217A (same guts as a Sony GDM-FW900).

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew if they were prone to flyback issues. Occasionally, the display goes out of focus, will hold like that for about 30 seconds or so, then I hear a SNAP come from the back (like an arc in the spark gap) and it comes back into focus. I haven't opened it yet, its not fun to disassemble...... I'm fearing the CRT is dying, but maybe I'll be luckier and its just a flyback dying... If anyone has some input, I'd be appreciative.

Most sony (and rebranded sony) failures I've seen are bad solder joints... everywhere.
