DELL P1110 Trinitron - focus problems

Hello, I am having problems with my Dell P1110 21" Trinitron monitor. It changes it's focus on it's own. One moment it's very blurry and the next it's ok. Sometimes it's ok only in the center of the screen, sometimes only in the corners. It's very random.

Adjusting the focus from the knobs on the FBT is not possible. I have also tried the monitor with an FBT and an A board from a working Sony FW900 but it's the same, so I'm guessing it's not the FBT or the A board.

I read somewhere that this monitor should have an auto focusing circuit controlled by an IC. I am bad at reading schematics so can anyone please help me find this auto focusing circuit and the IC?

I am attaching the service manual in case someone wants to check the schematics.

    Thanks in advance!

Re: DELL P1110 Trinitron - focus problems

I have tried to capture the problem on video but it's very hard. However on this video you should be able to see how at 0:05 the focus snaps back to normal. It happens on it's own without me touching anything. After this happens the image slowly gets blurry again until it snaps back to normal at a random moment. This goes on and on.

Any kind of advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: DELL P1110 Trinitron - focus problems

If you tried a different FBT then it is likely the crt that is at fault, the focus element in the crt is going open. There is no auto focus, there is dynamic focus correction for the edge. this is controlled by the DFT transformer (H) and by Q707 (V). If the dynamic focus was the problem it would effect the edge and either the top/bottom or sides but not likely both.
You can check the crt socket on the C Block where the focus leads are connected.
If the focus controls have no effect it is likely that the crt is the problem.

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
          by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.
I have tried multiple different Dell power adapters. My Dell...

Dell P1110 Sony G500 Trinitron fix - not brightness!
          by sviru
Hi guys I have issues with my "new" P1110.

The screen is not horizontally centered. From the start. I need to shift the screen and make it bigger to fill the screen. No matter what source xbox/pc/laptop.

There is also a big distortion you can see here.
          https://ibb.co/NCGKs7N

Also the screen has a little red shift in the blacks.
Any ideas? Screen is not too bright.

Dell Pro 13 Plus PB13250 Bios Unlock
          by Akhlz001
          Hi,

Could someone help trying to unlock this BIOS, seems that Dell have changed the layout of new Dell Pro 8FC8 bioses from checking HXD - 4000 bits do not need changing, only 2000. However after FF the section starting from '01000' upto 2000 bits and then soldering the chip back it seems that the microchip on the motherboard is recovering the bios back to original settings after first boot. Has anyone found a way to crack this extra layer of security Dell have implemented? Seems both HP and Dell have upped bios security to match Lenovo by implementing extra measures on a separate...

          by Caimano
I am trying to repair a Dell Inspiron 3793 which has problems with start up, no battery charging and fan not running. I believe the Bios (probably the EC Region) is corrupted.
          The board is FDI45-LAJ091P REV 1.0 A00
          Processor i7 1065G7 with GPU
This MB has 2 Bios Chips (one 8MB and one 16MB chip).
I am trying to reload a new Bios with clean ME region, new main region and new EC region.
I attach the dumps of the 2 chips.
I successfully used ME analyzer to identify ME, PCH and PMC versions and used Flash Image Tool to install ME, PCH and PMC cleaned regions....
