    Dell BenQ E171Fpb inverter

Dell 17" monitor. Took apart & inspected. No bulging or leaking caps. (Crappy ones though). No discoloration anywhere on boards. Checked for cold solder joints. Resoldered all joints. checked the ccl bulbs. Working fine. Sympton the same, irregular patterns on display. REsolderd transformer leads/pins. Will attach pics when i remember how.(Have not posted in many months.)

    Re: Dell BenQ E171Fpb inverter

I am thinking your problem is more likely the power supply or logic board. Inverter problems are no/low backlight. I am currently recapping an E171FPb right now. Can you post some pics of the boards ? Here are some I just clicked off.
The first is my inverter. The (2) 220uf @ 25v were bulged pretty good, I replaced them with some 220uf @35v one I had in the grab bag. The next pic is of the power supply board. All the 1000uf caps were bad with 1 exception. I replaced the (1)10v unit and the (2)16v caps with 16v ones I had in stock. The (3) 35v units are on order. I'll post back as soon as I have them in and power it back up.

The last pic is from a website (click here) selling the EXACT same P.S. only it has omitted one cap ! And that was the one that was gooped up the worst on my board. I did not know it could be left out !!! I intend to replace the popped cap on mine, but do I really need too ?

      Re: Dell BenQ E171Fpb inverter

I replaced the last 3 caps and BINGO ! It works like a charm. Nice quality back light and nice image as well. Hey for the $3 worth of parts and a little time it is a keeper.

Badcaps saves another monitor from the recycle bin.

Dell E6400 PT434 type Battery Charging Stuck at 1%. Battery Pinouts?
            by Bowline
My question pertains to understanding the control circuity inside a Dell PT434 type battery used in Dell E6400, E6410 and other Dell notebooks?

Does anyone have a circuit diagram for the inside of a Dell PT434 battery and/or a description of how the control lines work to control this battery?

My reason for asking is I have a battery which I cannot get to charge beyond 1% in a Dell E6410 or E6400.
The LED bar graph charge indicator on the battery shows one LED lighted when the info button is pressed.

Dell Latitude 5420 does not start (no post) need help to find the reason why
            by F R 2568
            Hello all,

this is my first post, so if I make mistakes please do not hesitate to point them out, thank you in advance.

I got a Dell Latitude 5420 (Service Tag: 7RFM6D3, Motherboard: GDF40 LA-491P Rev.: 2.0 (A01)) which does not start and I want to repair it. These are the symptoms:

If the laptop is only connected to the AC adapter (battery removed):

When I press the power button, the keyboard backlight and the display backlight are turning on. Caps key light is lightning, but key does not respond to pressing it.

            The power/battery...

            Looking for Dell Latitude 5520 / 5530 / 5540 RJ45 network connector replacement
            by diamon
I have a Dell Latitude 5530 with a damaged RJ45 network connector. See the attached pictures.

Have already searched on Farnell / Aliexpress / Ebay and had contact with several suppliers on Aliexpress and Ebay, but they cannot deliver this connector.
Is there someone inside the EU, who has these connector(s) or perhaps defective motherboard(s) for these laptop models I have mentioned in the topic title.

            Dell 5410 greyed out BT
            by OntarioTL
Well I've learned something new today. Of all the Dell laptops I've come across I have never seen bluetooth greyed out, and only to learn this is during the build from Dell factory. I've tried to pull the original BIOS and fix with another dell with the same issue on the forums, however the original was not recovered from the forum upgrade so I cannot do a comparison to attempt the fix on my own.

If someone could help me out with this unit and I'll try the next one as so far I have 2 on my desk with this issue. Thanks in advance!

Dell G5 SE 5505 - "Invalid memory installed" after BIOS update.
            by lalle-
            Hello!

I have a problem with a Dell G5 SE 5505 laptop that I hope someone can give me a few pointers on.
[OK, it's not really a laptop, I'm running the motherboard on my desktop with only cooling, RAM and an M2 drive attached.]
I had some performance issues, so I decided to update my BIOS from 1.7.0 to the latest version, 1.20.0.
The computer restarted and the update dit not want to continue without a battery connected, even though I used dell's method of bypassing this requirement.
I tried updating to a custom BIOS from Reddit user Satori_Nori https://www...
