Re: polaroid tv capacitor identification
Scenic,
When i first saw the cap i thought it was bulging. Looked at pictures on other post and the main filter cap looks the same.
My two caps that are bad are the same as Reid52 with the exception of the cap reading ZP195[B]CV15. I ordered the Panasonics also. Let ya'll know the outcome tomorrow.Re: polaroid tv capacitor identification

Rube,
I ordered the panasonics. Here are pics of the solder side. Notice the grey looking solder joints. (Pic3) I haven't reflowed yet, Probably today cause parts should be in on the morrow....Last edited by elbtax; 06-15-2010, 10:51 AM.

Rube,
Here are some pics of the guts of the tv. They are not great but you will see the two psu are very similar......

Re: polaroid tv capacitor identification
I am looking at a friends Polaroid tv model TDA-03211C. Those two caps are the same ones bulging on this PSU. They can be found on Digi-Key. If the two replacements lasted only a month i would suspect some other problem that is causing these to bulge. Unless the caps are inferior. Try the panasonic on DK.
Just my thoughts.. Others on this forum are true experts on tv repair. This tv is exibiting the same as yours. Audio but no pic.

Re: esr or cap tester
Ordered from Mike on 5-8-2010. Projected delivery to east coast, USA was 5-22 thru 5-25. Received my order on 5-27-2010. Was very pleased with Russian post shipping. I had capped a Gateway Fpd1960 prior to receiving the micro 4.0 that was displaying 2sec to black. Replaced all caps with Nichicon. I still got 2sec to black. Got the micro 4.0 and checked my supply of Nichicon caps. The 220uf, 25v caps had been in my bin for around two years. Checked esr and they had gone high. Should have been around .23 but was reading .48.. Ordered pan fm from digikey and replaced....

Resistors
How do you determine the wattage on a particular resistor? I have a psu that has a bad 1 megaohm resistor. I don't know the wattage? Can anyone possibly help out? I would appreciate it greatly!!!!
Thanks

Re: Need Help with ceramic capacitors
Thanks PB. I knew they were PF but i quoted exactly what is on the disc so there would be no mistakes. I like using Digi-Key but was getting no results when i typed in the part #. Not so on Mouser. Brought up the 47pf right off. Figured i would ask the experts hoping you would chime in. Mostly i just read the forums and have no input. I bow to others expertise.
What ever happened to Dave Max?? Anyway, thanks again.....

Need Help with ceramic capacitors
I have two ceramic capacitors located near the power fet on a psu board that are craced and black looking on the top. The values are as follows:
47J, 1kv & 12J, 1kv.
I found one on Mouser but can't find the other. No results on Digi-Key. I
would like to find them on DK as i am building my order for some fuses, and aluminum caps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Replacement Patrs
I have looked on Digi-Key, Mouser, Newark & Farnell for the following parts:
SP1040C, 4v, 10.0Amp, Shottky Barrier Rectifier & SP10100C. 100v, 10Amp in a TO-220 package. I would appreciate any help in finding these parts or replacements.
Thanks..Thse are for a ILPI-025 PSU in a Viewsonic VA1930WM LCD.

Viewsonic VA1930WM No Power
Checked main filter cap. 1.5vdc. Fuse checked good. Replaced bridge rectifier.
Now i measure 169.2 cdc across filter. Suspected power fet was shot as my voltages at the 8 pins to the main board read: 1=.7v, 2-6=0,7-8=5.2v
Removed power fet and checked bad. Found on Digi-kEY But package type is wrong. Can anyone tell me the package type. Thanks.....
