That makes it easy to troubleshoot. Some parts of the circuit are common to both sides. The BIT3106 and KIA324 (U5) are common. U1 and U3 drive one transformer; U4 and U6 drive the other. U1 and U4, serve the same function on both sides as do U3 and U6.

A first step would be to measure the resistance between all the pins of T1 and compare them to the resistance between the same pins on T2. Note that on the primary (left) end of T1 the top 3 pins are connected together as are the bottom three pins. There are probably only two pins on the secondary of each transformer.

Before you go crazy trying to find parts, investigate a new or used one:

See the notes "Same As" - Samsung, Ambit

        Ebay used:

          Re: Dell 1703fp Inverter problem

I had this problem with my 1703fp a few years ago.

At the time I bought a replacement inverter, I got ripped off, can't believe how cheap they are now!

Anyway, after enough powering on/off, one of my transformers developed a nice burn mark in the side, so that would be my first suspect.

Good to know. I'd be having a one-sided discussion with them after I got something used that they didn't tell me about upfront.

Visa would get a call too.
