Dell 2407WFPB
Hi
My Dell has this problem, it keeps rebooting repeating the same pattern.
I can see a blue line but it is not able to display the word DELL and then reboot again. It keeps repeating.
Can anyone tell to to troubleshoot the power supply board or the inverter board? Thanks.

Re: Dell E196FPf
darn... E176Fpf circuit board is different model from E196Fpf, the transformer is also different too. I am at dead end...

Re: Dell E196FPf
I am located in Singapore.
Using the flyback tester, these are the readings I have got. PRI side pins 1-2 bad with two red bar; pins 3-4 green ok; SEC side pins 5-6 & 7-8 shorted no light. I am pretty sure the readings are accurate.
Tomorrow I can get hold of a unit of E176Fpf, I think they are using the same board. Let me swap the transformer and test. Will report back.

Re: Dell E196FPf
Hi
I have the same model Dell E196fpf which has no power.
I have identified the yellow transformer to be faulty using flyback tester.
Anyone knows where I can buy this part? Thanks.

Re: Philip 170B4 LCD
I desoldered the transformer out and tested it with a flyback tester. Found a few windings to be shorted. I hope I am correct.

Re: Philip 170B4 LCD
I had took out both CCFL lamps, look fine to me as no black mark.
Just found the inverter IC datasheet, measured the Vcc in, only 5.4V.
Really too low voltage to turn on inverter IC.

Re: Philip 170B4 LCD
Hi Bob
I tried with a new vga cable, same result. Tried another PC, same.
The inverter IC part no. is 0Z960S but I cannot find the datasheet, I cannot measure the Vcc.

Re: Philip 170B4 LCD
Hi Bob
I did the torch test, cannot see the video signal from my desktop.
I also notice, every time I pulled out the vga connector to the lcd monitor and connect it back, the lcd display for a second and shut down.
During my desktop boot up, I can see the lcd flashed 1 second display 3 times.
So any suggestion?

Re: Philip 170B4 LCD
Hi Bob
Yes, the B/lights does come on, I saw the cable not connected message.
I mean the power supply transformer. I used a flyback tester, one of the primary winding is shorted. There is no 12V power to the inverter module from the power supply module.
For your last question, I did not do the test as I had desoldered the transformer out.
If got chance I will test it and revert.

Philip 170B4 LCD
Hi
I have this Philip 170B4 LCD, it powers up 1s then shutdown.
Power led is still on. I suspect the transformer is faulty using the flyback tester.
The transformer part number on it is HJC-S2258.
I know this transformer was manufactured by http://www.hjc.com.tw/company.htm
I cannot find the specifications of this transfer, anyone managed to buy a replacement before?
Thanks.https://Hi

I have thi...transformer is

Re: Biostar Geforce 6100-M9
if it is not the caps then it is bad news coz dun do replacing mosfet. done resetting the CMOS, as for battery, i used fresh new one. the motherboard is all along out of the casing. seems like troubleshooting socket 939 success rate very low, got better luck with socket 478.

Re: Biostar Geforce 6100-M9
ok, my stocks for the Sanyo 1000uF 6.3V caps arrived and spent a couple of hours removing the OST caps and recapped with those Sanyo. but the problem still there after testing.
if i used on board graphic, display will turn off after 3-4mins. if i used pci-x graphic card, it will hang during POST or in bios if i tried to change some setting.

Re: Biostar Geforce 6100-M9
guys,
i remembered posting on another thread and a senior member mentioned if doing recaps, must change the same series for all e.g. if the motherboard has a 3300uF 6.3V bloated cap, must change all the caps with 3300uF 6.3V. Does this apply to the VRM area caps only, say if I got 12 pcs 470uF 6.3V all over the motherboard, only 1 bloated cap, change 1 or 12?

Re: Biostar Geforce 6100-M9
guys,
off track a bit, i got a MSI motherboard, it has 470uF 6.3V (3 pcs) and 470uF 10V (1 pc) both G-LUXON brand. if i were to change the caps, can i standardise them to 470uF 10V?

guys,

Re: Biostar Geforce 6100-M9
i do not see any sign of damaged traces, let me order some 1000uF 6.3V caps to standby when i test the OST caps out of circuit. in the meantime, MIA awhile ..

Re: Biostar Geforce 6100-M9
Newbie2,
I only did in circuit esr measurement, 10 caps OST RLP series 1000uF 6.3V have reading of 0.02 while 2 caps have reading of 0.05.
Agent24,
I am using Verudium PowerXT PSU. I also tested with Silverstone SST-ST400 PSU, same symtom. Once I got hold of the motherboard, I flashed the bios to latest version.
