I have lines on my Dell E173FPb (see picture). Not a deal breaker but annoying. Anyone have an idea what may be causing this? I haven't opened the case yet because that's a complete pain - hoping someone might have some pointers before I resort to a teardown.

If it was mine I would leave it alone, as it is minor problem if you do open it up then clean LCD connection and try it but chances are you are going to have to recap it at the very least and thats a much bigger pain than opening it up -

by ongobongoHi guys,
I have another problematic laptop here, a Dell Latitude 7420 2-in-1 with touch display.
Motherboard is Compal LA-K371P Rev.3.0.
The laptop has a strange display problem, see attachment for more details. This problem is not windows related, as soon as you start the display has those lines even in the Bios. If i attach an external monitor, the lines do not appear there.
I was able to get my hands on a second display, but the problem persists, so it seems to be something different.
any ideas?... -
by GuybrushAfter watching too many electronics repair videos (but not monitors) I came across a dell monitor with flickering horizontal lines. I haven't purchased it yet so don't have much info, but from the video and pic do you think there is a chance of repair or is just simple panel damage?
Seller claims; "but due to sun damage has some grey lines going through it"

by master3112I would like to share my experience about charging issues with Dell power supplies with the tech community. I am working on a Dell Inspiron 5590, Mainboard 18778-1 with charging problems. The device can be switched on and works so far, only the message appears at startup:
Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and Type cannot be determined. The battery may not change. The System will adjust the performace to match the power available.
The power supply unit is not recognized in the Bios and the charging process is set to "idle". I use original Dell battery, type...-

by howardc64All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
- TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
- Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

by F R 2568Hello all,
this is my first post, so if I make mistakes please do not hesitate to point them out, thank you in advance.
I got a Dell Latitude 5420 (Service Tag: 7RFM6D3, Motherboard: GDF40 LA-491P Rev.: 2.0 (A01)) which does not start and I want to repair it. These are the symptoms:
If the laptop is only connected to the AC adapter (battery removed):
When I press the power button, the keyboard backlight and the display backlight are turning on. Caps key light is lightning, but key does not respond to pressing it.
The power/battery... - Loading...
