    Transistors needed

I am currently working on a Di-fusion EZ17F monitor with failed backlights caused by two transistors on the inverter being shorted. The transistors are ZTX1049A (also known as FZT1049A). There are 4 on the board and they appear to carry out exacltly the same function as C5707 on the Dell and Benq boards.
Anyone come across these before and know a source to get them from or even another equivalent?
    Many thanks.

Nice find Toasty at Newark that was a direct ship from Farnell in the UK and thats a $20 processing fee.

Did you test those in circuit or out of circuit?

If in circuit, they may be the ones with their collector-emitter junction across the ballast/transformer primaries and will always show shorted.

If out of circuit, did you reverse meter probes to see if you get the same readings from lead to lead of device?

A pic of the board would be cool too.

Just wanted to point out it's a current (not obsolete) part.
            Wasn't suggesting to buy there.

              Re: Transistors needed

Thanks everyone thats very helpful. They are TO92 (but I also have another problem monitor with an smd version thats faulty as well).
I tested them out of circuit and two are definatelly shorted ( a reading in all directions and all pins).
They dont seem too far away in spec to C5707 (not that I am any expert on these specs) so I wonder if I could risk trying a couple of these as I have a fair number of these !
Alternativelly has anyone come across ZTX1049A or FZT1049A in another monitor or piece of electronics so I could go scavenging?!
I will post a photo of the inverter when I get time
              Regards

                Re: Transistors needed

Nothing ventured nothing gained - I tried using C5707s to replace the two shorted ZTX1049 and lo and behold the backlights fired up. Early days but the monitor has ran all evening without problem and I will test it over the next few days to see if the substitution lasts. Before anyone points out that the BC and E are on different pins on the C5707s I was aware of that and managed to instal them slightly differently to keep the pins correct.

In to the third day of running now with the substituted C5707s with no obvious problems so will assume a fix. Hope this helps someone else with a similar problem.
