July 29, 2008 I found this forum by Googeling HERMEI caps hope this is the right place to post is.
I have just repaired a HP LCD screen Model 1702 17". The HP has the same caps as the Compaq 15" LCD screen Model FP15 Model Number PE1233 Product Name P9618C as in the post at Http://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4983.
This LCD also has 2 boards, one 'power-backlight board' reference 715L1034-1 and one 'processor board'. This 715L1034-1
The 'power board' 715L1034-1 was not working I replaces all the caps and found 2 loose solder joints and 1 joint were the circuit was peeling off the board.
I did not have a problem with replacing any of those good old HERMEI caps (not) my issue is with the 'processor board' (the smallest of the two). It seem that the cable that comes from the processor board that is 1 4/16” wide (connector) and it go's to the bottom of the LCD panel (connector) 1 1/2” wide.
All the other connector ether goes in one way or snap in or both this one does not. The connector that comes for the 'processor board' is smaller than the connector at the bottom of the LCD Panel.
This smaller connector from the 'processor board' has several small flat gold contacts that fit some how in the LCD contact. Now I can slide this smaller connector in the other connector from lift to right about 1/4" (seeing that they are of different sizes) without it snapping in, so how do I find out if it has to go to one side or the other or what?
I hope that I was clear on my description of the contacts. I can't send picture seeing that my camera is not working. If anyone can help I would appreciate it as everything is on hold for now.
