Commodore 1084s p1 monitor went black

    Manufacturing date 1990.
Had not been used in 5 years, and worked fine for 10 minutes.
Then screen went black with a fading white horizontal line in the middle and it started buzzing...
Now just a black screen and buzzing when you turn it on.

Does this sound complicated or expensive to fix?
I had the monitor repaired 20 years ago, back then it was already difficult to find a shop that could do it, I called a couple again but they don't want to deal with those old monitors.

I can't find any leaking, or bulging capacitors, but maybe one of the experienced folks can spot something?

      It's a 9 pin d sub connector
What needs to be fixed for a vertical deflection failure?

They are real pictures but the don't come up when you click... I will fix that

Thanks, but it does not say anything about diagnosis.
I have been told it is useless to try it as Commodore has been bankrupt for over 20 years, and there are no parts available.
But I gather the majority of those resistors, capacitors and such are still universal.
Here are the photo's as attachment:

                that's bullshit because it's a rebadged philips CM8833 MK2

i will look at the pdf later, but put simply, you need to locate the vertical deflection chip, check the solder joints, and replace any small caps related to it.
as a starting point anyway - it may have a blown chip - but it's unlikely.

you find it by finding the scancoils on the schematic and then following the vertical drive signals back to the source.

Does Phillips still have parts available for those old monitors?
BTW I checked the bottom side of the board for broken solder joints and such, but everything seemed fine.

Was it a lucky strike that I saw how it went out? All it does now is have a black screen and a buzzing noise.

you should not keep testing it, you can cause more damage.
can you read the part numbers on the large chips fitted to heatsinks please.

You mean the shield on pic #7?

                        103142873

The only chip with a heatsink I can find is in the bottom right corner of the last pic...
But the heatsink is either glued to the chip or soldered to the board...
The numbers right below it are

Nice monitor, own one too, together with an Amiga 2000.

There is no glow in the neck when I turn it on. Could it be a problem with the power supply?
