HF257 - Help?

Hi everyone,

Sorry to start a new thread, but I could do with 'do this, then this' sort of advice.

I've been having what I think/thought was the 2 seconds to black issue with Hannspree's HF257, and was going to follow the guide. I switch the screen on, after a couple of seconds it goes black BUT there seems to be no image even if I shine a light on it. The power light doesn't change colour.

Shall I just follow the sticky guide? The person who was helping me was very nice but said it likely*wasn't* 2 seconds to black, as no image was visible even if I shined a light on the screen, and to follow other guides on here (which have never ended well, that I can see)so now I'm a bit confused...

So:

- Should I just follow the sticky guide?
- If not, then what do I do?

Change all of the power supply caps first. I see you only did 3 (the ones with the "Y" vent), or perhaps it came like that? Anyways, the ones with the "Y" vent seem like Chemicon KY or KZE series - those are good. Verify that this is what they are - you should see KY or KZE written on them somewhere.
The caps that would definitely need replacing are the green caps above them: C242, C243, C244, C263, and another one that I can't see its markings.

Why replace them even if they look good? Long story short, I have one monitor that would not display an image or display random lines until the caps on the 5V rail on the PSU were replaced.

While at it (the recapping that is), I see a few more small caps on the video/logic board that probably would be a good idea to replace them. Looks like C70, C61 and the other small cap next to it, C69, and C67. Using this picture as a reference:

that would be the black caps starting from the bottom of the picture, going up, and towards the left. The caps next to chip next to those headphone jacks are for the amp - those don't need to be replaced.

I love you. Thanks for the detailed rundown - I haven't replaced anything yet, so really appreciate knowing where to start. I'll start there!
