• A stupid problem - Monitor movement!

    Hi All,

Stupid problem, I know, but it's still a problem: If I nudge my screen at all, it shuts off for a few seconds. And I mean placing a finger on the bezel, or the desk near it. Obviously, I've quintuple checked both the power and HDMI cables are tight and swapped them with others, and opened it up to look for loose whatevers, and didn't find any.

Moreover, if I switch it on, it often switches itself off at first, and needs a couple of goes...

Anyone have any ideas what I should do? Otherwise, it's new screen time...

    It's a Hannspree HF257,...

I love you. Thanks for the detailed rundown - I haven't replaced anything yet, so really appreciate knowing where to start. I'll start there!...

    HF257 - Help?

    Hi everyone,

Sorry to start a new thread, but I could do with 'do this, then this' sort of advice.

I've been having what I think/thought was the 2 seconds to black issue with Hannspree's HF257, and was going to follow the guide. I switch the screen on, after a couple of seconds it goes black BUT there seems to be no image even if I shine a light on it. The power light doesn't change colour.

Shall I just follow the sticky guide? The person who was helping me was very nice but said it likely*wasn't* 2 seconds to black, as no image was visible even if I shined...

I did have the brightness down for a month but then foolishly didn't do more - and now it won't stay on at any brightness. It does about 2-5 seconds, and sometimes drops in brightness just before going black...

The led stays on and doesn't change colour.

I've opened up the screen (as I say, I'm confident at that level, it's when we talk soldering and testing voltage that I fall down...) Should I simply go ahead and try swapping out capacitors at this point?

Also, I really appreciate the help!...

No pink screen - the screen will be running normally, then drops dramatically in brightness, and then goes black about 2 seconds later.

I'll take off the back first thing tomorrow - currently using an old laptop to catch up on the day's work this has put me behind! Any tips on taking the back off this model at all - I've taken out the screws but it's all seemingly one piece......

    Hannspree HF257

    Hi all!

I'm having the 2 seconds to black issue, I think, with my Hannspree HF257.

    I know, I should refer to: https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=10419

BUT! I just want to check that that's my specific problem, because there's no image on the screen even if I shine a light on it. Furthermore, the screen has started crackling before shutting off. Any thoughts, or should I just go ahead and follow the above thread?

    Many thanks,

    Tomhttps://Hi all!

I'm h...ssue, I think,

  • Re: New Members - please post your introductions here

Hi all! I'm Tom, I've built my desktops for over a decade, but having just had my monitor die on me, I found myself clueless and came to the guardians of this sacred knowledge.

    That's you guys.

I like learning how to fix stuff.
