dell E228WFPc 2 seconds to black

Hello I have read through the few topics on this monitor (dell E228WFPc) trying to find the “fix”. When it is turned on it will show the 4 color bars and then it is black all in about 2 seconds. I remember reading over the last few years that in many cases the lcd monitors can be fixed so I came to Google and Google lead me to dell and dell lead me here.
I have no spare ccfl's to test with. I saw a post making a test bulb with a cfl bulb. I have some at home that I need to accidentally “break” so I can make a couple. Most fixes I found include replacing c806, I do not have anything in that spot. While looking for c806 I noticed that c802 feels soft and looks round while the rest are rectangular and solid. I have a pic, it's with the company Iphone so I can't get in to close but I think it shows pretty good what I see. My gut is telling me that is probably what is wrong with the monitor. Is there an easy way to check?

Check the resistance of the inverter transformer high voltage winding pin 1 and pin 6, use Ohm meter in 2K Ohms range and report the reading. Using at least two test lamps will really help narrowing down the problem.

if you are talking about the 4 windings at the top of picture "front" then as labeled on the board:
t801 = nothing (meter stays at 1.)
t802 = .959
t805 = .966
t806 = .964

T801 has open winding which will give you 2-second to black symptom. You may want to verify again by resoldering the solder pads of the just incase there is flux built-up that the meter probe may not be making contact.
DARFON 80GL20T-23 hard to come by.

801 or 802? 801 has no reading at all, that's what you meant right?

Good observation, but unfortunately that capacitor just looks like it has some glue or such on it. Not a problem unless it turns conductive. But it does not look like the kind of glue which does.

In any case, the T801 open transformer is much more likely to be the problem.

Hi, i've got the same problem in my E228WFPc, everyone suggest to replace c806 but as wcoffeyiv said, there's nothing on that spot.
I've checked t801,t802,t805,t806 trasformers and they seem to be ok.

Have you got any other suggest?
I think i'll try recapping in the meantime

Recapping is an idea, might also help to post photos of your board so we can look at it too.
