Hey everyone,
I have an Emachines LE1938 monitor (19") and it was doing the blink thing. I replaced the one bulging cap I had in there. Blinking problem is gone, now I have a blank white screen. I have searched and done some reading on the same model, and some different, threads. The ribbon cable is plugged in as it should be. I've checked and double checked all the connections. I have no idea what can be wrong with this thing now, but obviously it is something I did because it worked fine, apart from the blinking, before I "fixed" it.
Obviously its not an expensive monitor but I really like to be able to repair things and keep using them, than to just throw it away and buy a new one.
Here are some pics...
Pic1 - Red circle is the cap that was replaced (same type, just different brand - tho the diameter was noticeably smaller) Green circle is correct (I did it) Orange circle is where I am unsure if the connection is right. My husband likes to come and poke his nose in what I'm doing like I'm incompetent or something. Grrrr So I didn't see how they were, originally, when he disconnected them. However, I have tried these wires both ways and have the white screen either way.
Pic2 - Other side of board. I am sure its ugly, I am not a pro.
Pic3 - Video board
Pic4 - Ribbon cable plugged in. Does it matter if this has the original tape on it? It won't re-stick after taking it apart. I used some blue painter tape since it doesn't have an insane amount of stick but enough to keep it in place.
Pic5 - White screen, but i notice looking at it from the site, there are lines (you can faintly see in the pic) I am not sure if that means anything.
I hope this is sufficient info. Thank you in advance to anyone who can offer me some insight.
Thanks
